The bottom line is that this diet is not about "weight" but the reduction in comorbidities as mentioned above. It is the best overall diet. And frankly, I tell my patients I do not believe in diets as they do not work. It has to be a lifestyle change. No "one" thing can control weight or reduce CV, DM2 or Metabolic Syndrome related issues. And do not forget exercise as an important component.

They know how to balance the right carbs and protein. Look at France. They eat bread daily, but it's the right grains and they don't over eat and pair with the right foods Something Americans haven't learned. If youve ever been to a true French restaurant, the portion size would shock you. Most Americans complain, they're shocked. The portion sizes there are very small. Europeans come here and gain weight and are stunned by what we eat.
