Marcy Kaptur breaks new record in Congress with a familiar warning for the Democratic Party | CNN Politics

Rep. Marcy Kaptur becomes the longest-serving woman in Congress this week after winning her first competitive race in decades. But she sees her work in Washington as far from over.

I understand the point you're trying to make. It's just not a logical point.
She's fighting for her district in a Congress that both Republicans and Democrats mess up in.
But she IS fighting for them. She's not sitting back and doing nothing. And her experience in fighting has caused her to be different than her colleagues. If she was replaced with a new member from either party, the focus of that winner might be party politics rather than worrying about her district (don't pretend, after Walker and Oz that the Republicans care about their districts more than Democrats do)
So this notion of "term limits" just doesn't apply to her at all.

You're trying to say that all of Congresses woes are caused by however much math you do on whatever combination of (Democrat only) representatives. As if squirrelly correlation meant causation.

You do that as a regurgitation of the ridiculous math acrobatics of prior Trump supporters who got their start defending him for being a newcomer and outsider faced off against establishment foes.

But Trump was in the White House for 4 years and the level of corruption he brought was record-setting. So, your argument is dated. It doesn't work to make "yea many years of experience" as if that's Washington's problem.

Washington's problem is corruption and politics no matter whether it's from newcomers or multi-term representatives.

Charles Booth Democrats dream it will split the party and the citizen vote. Probably having celebratory chats. Going to be a FOB group in the Republicans. Friends of Biden... coming soon.... two Republican candidates likely for president hmmm one with no platform saying we follow donald and the other will have a platform most likely targeted at the younger groups of voters... pondering what moderate Republicans will name the group.... to win the ones not hardline have to say yes we caved in and gave this this this to Democrats but look at the one big thing I got you to constituents... it will be theirs because there is not Republican platform so names of leaders will pop up that have underlying Democratic support...on some issues. Total Harlequinn disruption scenario... you know like how many liked Liz Cheney so she wins by proxy. The ultimate politician is the one on the outside doing systems thinking because the ones in the House and Senate chose not to. Watches the eddies and whirling of it all and only nudges here and there when there is an opportunity. Out of the limelight so totally free. Super power babes

Tristis Ward So you don't understand the point I'm making. Biden has been in DC for over 50 years, what has he done for you personally that has enriched your life and made it better. How many years/decades does it take for the politicians to fix what ails us? These long time politicians come to DC and become multi-millionaires on a government salary. Tell me you are not this daft? Talk about corruption, might behoove you to read the #TwitterGate Files and you'll find corruption from the Biden WH, the DNC, FBI, DNI, DHS, MSM and Twitter. Now that a Speaker has been seated, enjoy the next two years of Congressional Hearings. I gave you the tools to read so you're not blindsided. The corruption has been going on for decades bu.....bu.....but yeah Trump. Your indoctrination, aka brainwashing has been quite the success. If Jim Jones were alive today he would be in awe of you.

Steven Badeau so they did what they felt was best for the US People.....worth fighting for..... rather than sit on their hands and reject the idea that the US Citizens were worth fighting for.

They saw the need to change, reject the culture that developed over the years, and made much worse the last 2. They felt the fight for the American people was worth it.....the Dems didn't.

In fact, Jeffries speech was full of hateful, divisive rhetoric, ra ially charged and far from anything that would suggest any attempt to unite.

But again.....whe Speaker McCarthy affress all and stated the house needs to stand up and fight for the US Citizens......100% of the Dems sat on their hand in silence. Apparently the idea of working hard for Americans os repulsive to them.

Charles Booth There’s a disconnect between what everyday Americans want and deserve from their politics, and what political parties are offering.

Everyday Americans are increasingly left behind by national parties’ rigid partisanship, which has hardened in recent years.

Americans are told that they have only two choices – Democrat or Republican – and that we must subscribe wholesale to policy views the parties hold, views that have been pulled further and further toward the extremes.

When politicians are more focused on denying the opposition party a victory than they are on improving Americans’ lives, the people who lose are everyday Americans.
