In colloquial terms, they are virtue signaling, to gain positive traction.

Conversely, Mr. Trump, on his last day in office, had boxes and boxes removed from the white house, did not return them when asked, and had to be served with a warrant to have them removed from his care, against his will.

One acted presidential; the other like the kind of man baby that would storm the capitol building, if his own secret service staff hadn't refused to take him there.

There is a remarkable difference between the two scenarios...
