1ºHelen Treadwell just because I may or may not like it does not make it an embarrassment. Art is subjective and everything does not appeal to everyone. For example, the Mona Lisa… Saw it in person at the Louvre Museum. It does not appeal to me, but it’s a famous piece and people actually appreciate it. MLK III said, “ I think the artist did a great job. I am satisfied. Yeah, it didn’t have my Mom and Dad’s images, but it represents something that brings people together.” So, if his family is satisfied and can appreciate the beauty of it then all is not lost.
2ºin all honesty this art was approved by someone before it was installed. So all the out rage should be with the government that approved this sculpture. The style is abstract and when you have a style like abstract its very subjective. If it was me i would have done a more traditional historic statue of king jr with his wife hand united and raised above or embracing. but what is on displayed was approved by government and with such an important figure you think a considerable time would have been taken to make sure it was tasteful done and accepted by everyone.
