Biden admin unveils new program to allow private citizen groups to sponsor refugees

The program, called the Welcome Corps, was billed by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken as “the boldest innovation in refugee resettlement in four decades.”

Andi Louise no Andi, I live in Texas and it’s not hard to envisage hundreds of thousands of illegals (those “processed” and those not detained or processed) crossing our border monthly. It’s happening, they are entering our country illegally (the administration is employing executive action around the statutes governing legal entry and, have an elaborate network of NGOs and private/public charities and of course, the cooperation of crime syndicates extending from China to India to Central and South America).

They are here illegally and our state is spending several billions dollars per year detaining, processing and bring them into the welfare system.

They are here illegally. The Administration’s efforts to give the migrants legal US status, outside of the country and then, process them through key border entry points is not going unnoticed either.

No, if they enter the country illegally it matters not what manner of documentation they’ve been given. They have simply circumvented the law with the full assistance of the INS, DHS, the State Department and other relevant governmental agencies.

You can’t simply rewrite immigration law on the fly, simply to serve the interests of open borders advocates.

Could small towns do that to get a population back? How could industry tie in with that to have a labor force in that region? Illinois (-141,656) loss of population. As per PEW research A shrinking or slow-growing populace can be both a cause and an effect of weakened economic prospects. The states with long-term population declines all fell near the bottom of economic growth over the 12-year recovery from the Great Recession----West Virginia (-0.32% a year), Mississippi (-0.02%), and Illinois (-0.01)—the slowest population growth rates were recorded in Connecticut, Michigan (0.19%), and Ohio, Wyoming, and Pennsylvania (0.23% each). Dead cities means we bear more taxes in the live cities, and dead cities means no one to support Social Security and other services. Possible trade deals with families left back in the original country the refugee came from. Hmmm

Da Embram You should help sponsor some! Maybe you can find an empty house in your neighborhood. A basic 3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car will house up to 20 of the ones who are slithering across the border regularly. Some of their cars will run, but the rest will be rat hotels. Don't be alarmed at seeing kids in diapers running in the streets. The 6 and 7 year old kids are watching them. I hope you are an early riser because the roosters sure are! Even the ones with razor blades on their feet. Don't worry too much about the shootings. They are only shooting each other. The two teenaged boys who were gunned down by my house in two separate incidents were in Mexican gangs and they only fight over drug turf and such. I wish you all the 'refugees' you deserve.

Shanda, migrants have a hand in everything from agriculture, construction, hospitality and automotive, just to name a few. I hardly doubt you get your hands that dirty.

I did all the things you claimed to do. When I was younger. (I was a certified babysitter at 11 and sat for many families.) Now that I'm am adult and work full time (I don't have time to spare to go foraging for my food), I appreciate that I can go to the local grocer and buy a pound of strawberries. That were probably picked by a migrant worker. I also appreciate the roof over my head and the beautiful landscaping in my development that's probably also because of a migrant worker.

This story omits too much. Please give us a sample budget for the less than $3,000 that a whole family is going to live on until they are ready to work and pay for themselves. Then give us a sample job that the adults can fairly get and do with a sample budget for how they are going to live on that job. I'm sure that Biden's staff has calculated how much each sponsored refugee family is likely to cost taxpayers even if the sponsors do everything that they have promised to do. What is that number? Also, there should be a promise that no employer will be pressured into hiring the refugees instead of applicants for the job who aren't the sponsored refugees.
