Ford is boosting production of its flagship EV and dropping prices to compete with Tesla.

Mason Qian yes and no. You couldn’t have electric cars without chargers. Or at least they wouldn’t be very useful. This is why most people still wouldn’t use them for longer road trips. The infrastructure needs to be in place to support them to be an equivalent to an internal combustion engine. It’s pretty clear that outside of getting around town driving electric vehicles aren’t really overly useful. How can you convince the average consumer, who is hurting for money due to rising costs of living, to pay more for a car that arguably does less than what they have now? The return on investment simply isn’t there yet. It might be in 10 years if governments, automakers, and private investors are proactive and get ahead of mass buying of these vehicles. There is really no sign that is happening or will anytime soon

Kervin James now that the swinging is out of the way. I hope that video if any can enlighten you even in the slightest of ways as to where this EV push truly comes from. Imagine begging for your own demise

I'm sorry I came across as arrogant..but seeing this push for emission free and saving the planet..is a joke. The real place libtards need to fight climate change is in Asia and places like South Africa where more than 90% of South Africa's electricity is generated from the combustion of coal that contains approximately 1.2% sulfur and up to 45% ash.

North America is the least of the world's concern when it comes to climate change. It's a cash grab and folks literally vote and beg for it to happen. If you compare our carbon emissions to other countries and continents..its a literal drop in the bucket..but they lead you to believe that reducing your personal carbon footprint will make any difference whatsoever.

But...in this day and age..facts apparently don't matter.

The reason we will NEVER fight climate change in North America..is because we are too wealthy. The poorest countries contribute the most to our despair..and why you ask?...because they are f-k'n poor and literally only care about surviving and providing enough food for their families to eat. Do you know how many in places around Asia alone are starving..and I don't mean because they don't get dessert...because they literally can't afford to eat. People like the literal f-k'n leader of China..he has watched since when he was a boy his friends families were dirt poor and came from nothing. Do you think he will suppress his people and their survival for the greater good of the world?

If you think that...I sincerely don't know what's left to say and I wish you the greatest of luck in life.

How is it to get Joe Bidens 7500 tax credit it has to be assembled in America but the parts are made in China and shipped here to America. The rare earth minerals that are needed for the electric batteries are mined in Africa and China by child slaves at pennies a day if they live because America's liberals passed laws to prevent our companies from digging up the earth here. Why is no one talking about that part of Joe's plan. It's OK for child slaves but not unionized adults in this country. You would think the media would ask those questions

Kervin James you have fun with that goofy... I can't wait til Melvins like you need to take out a mortgage on your home just to replace your battery

What are you gonna do you factual f-n Melvin..when the minerals necessary to create a battery are no longer mined by slaves with primitive hand tools and dated machinery...and its all Union made batteries. The new mining project in Sudbury, Ontario is where GM plans to acquire their resources..that should go over great for the libtard consumer that pushed their governments to ban combustion engines.

Have you even researched the amount of pollutants that are emitted into the atmosphere just from the production of 1 battery?

Do you even have the slightest of clues how hot an ev burns..and in multiple cases these cars were completely submerged in water for a month straight..just to be pulled out and to reignite? ....I do

Moving forward..

So..once these slave batteries are wiped from the market..you will have exponentially more expensive union batteries being used..then when they make it illegal for manufactures to use minerals mined by slaves for these world saving autos....how much you think that car or truck is gonna cost.

I will keep my Acura RSX for at least a couple more years minimum. Get around 430-480 KM per 45L tank fill up. I fill up about once a month for work driving and I expect that to gradually go down as I get older and require less driving.

And I don't have to pay 40-50k minimum for a new electric car just to save some money on fuel.

40-50k can buy me at least another 20 years worth of gas with this car - with inflation factored in.

By then, I will be around 50-60 years of age and will consider buying a luxury 2nd hand vehicle.

Cars are the worst possible investment to buy brand new (Especially new models) unless one decides to keep it for a long time.

Ricardo Santana Here's where we have to part ways. In 1918 Baker Electric had the most advanced car. Full EV, and range of 100 miles. Several presidents, and successful educated people had them. But they were more of an investment, and electricity wasn't available everywhere. "The government" didn't set up the infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Henry always wanted to make throwaways- so cheap that "even farmers could own". Lining up men in assembly lines, and putting gas on street corners made him the Mc Donald's of cars. The oil barons who drove EVs decided that gas on every corner could be done. (BTW- none would hire Henry Ford!) And...
Mrs. Ford refused to drive his stinky vehicles.

Tesla set up their own infrastructure at great expense, and the competitors chose to not join in. Too bad. Toyoda did his best to convince CA to help fund his H2 plan, and that's where it ends. But feel free to enjoy the experience.

Darrell Long Well there’s not enough fast chargers for even a drive across Iowa. Even for regular chargers that requires an overnight stay, there’s not enough of those either. The United States has 3.797 million mi². 160,000 is a tiny fraction of the number of stations needed to make electric car driving more feasible. As it stands, electric cars are a novelty. In the northern region of the US, there’s not enough for daily driving. Also most people can’t afford to have a charger installed at their home. If I had an electric car, I’d have to drive 80+ miles away from home just to charge it.

Walter Welborn why do you think everything has to be political? EV’s work great as daily commuter vehicles for a fraction of the cost it takes to maintain ICE vehicles and fuel vs electric cost. They are cost prohibitive for the average American but like all technology as it improves and they get longer range 4-500 miles a charge they will eventually become affordable and be the preferred mode of transportation. Henry Ford built cars before we had gas stations on every corner eventually everywhere you went had gas stations and gas vehicles became the preferred mode of transportation. I’m guessing you would have stuck with the horse and buggy

Amanda Castro most people will charge at night, at home. You have the power to build a habit to charge it at home, and in time there will be charging stations. Like I said, its a burgeoning industry with evolving tech, and you can list all the reasons why it is a little inconvenient right now. But its not about right now, this minute, its about the future. Cell phones where inconvenient when they first came out, were the size of bricks, didn’t have good connectivity and so on, and today no one can live without them. This will progress, just like cell ohones did, and it take people adopring and adapting to speed the progress.

10ºAmanda Castro some go 250-350 miles in one charge, and some charge pretty quickly, as in 25 minutes. In some areas there are plenty of charging stations…for example, in Maui, the stores have them in the parking lots. You plug in when you park and are charged up when are done shopping. In the not too distant future, there will likely be in restaurant parking lots at places along major highways so you can stop for lunch or dinner and come out to a full charge afterwards.

Bottom line, this is a transition with electric vehicle replacing gas over a number of years and renewable power replacing fossil fuels over years. Meanwhile, as with any new tech they get faster, smaller, more convenient, more efficient, and less expensive over time.

They not ideal for long road trips right now, but that is not how the majority of fuel is burned for the average person. Most people drive to and from work and on errands, and they can charge their cars in their garage overnight. Most people do not fill their tanks multiple times a day. Plus, it costs about $6 -$10 to fully charge an EV - you cant fill your tank for anywhere near that.
