A couple abandoned their baby at an airport check-in desk after arriving without a ticket for the child.

There is probably some degree of exaggeration on both sides. The parents never boarded the flight, they just walked away from the counter. They were likely making a tasteless protest of the fee so they leave the infant on the counter as if “ok then, you can babysit.” and hoped to get the fee comped. The airline employees are obviously not at fault for their corporate fees attached to passes so they immediately call police and claim abandonment. I cant see a scenario the parents would think the airline would just let their flight take off leaving an infant behind.

When threatened, mother quokkas relax their pouches and the baby falls out and flails and squeaks on the ground, distracting the predator allowing the adult quokka to escape (and dooming the baby). It’s a survival technique that ensures she survives and continues to be able to reproduce. (The alternative in that situation of course being that she and the baby could have been killed by the predator). And that’s just one example. Many animals will abandon their babies at a drop of the hat. And still many more animals have no part in raising their babies whatsoever (like sea turtles).

Moira Marshall the article says a couple leaves a baby behind on the counter. Thru out the article it refers to them as a couple. And then the child is with his parents.

Kind of makes you wonder if it was a kidnapping of sorts. Where a couple attempted to leave with the baby were unable to. So ran to get to there flight. Cause the actual parents weren't so fat behind. So bizzare it reminds me of a the FBI international. Where they actually had an episode of this. Were a child was kidnapped. Flown to another country aboard a private plane. Placed up for adoption. And as the "adoptive " couple were ready to leave. The FBI and the child's actually parents. Show up.. and the child is reunited with the biological parents.

Janice Fazzino Kid you not, a mother once told me to take care of her baby because I told her, she needed to buy a ticket for her child as he was over 2 yo, she said " here then you take care of him" and let him go on my keyboard. I called police to the gate, she quickly changed her tune and bought child a ticket. I was disgusted with her behavior, the father caught the baby and scolded his mother, it was very uncomfortable. Like this story, the problem was resolved before police arrived and baby was traveling with his parents.

What do they mean by resolved? Leaving that child behind, they shouldn’t have been given the baby back.

The Israeli Airport Authority confirmed the episode to CNN and said in a statement:
"A couple and an infant with Belgian passports arrived for a flight at Terminal 1 without a ticket for the baby. The couple also arrived late for the flight, once the check-in for the flight was closed. The couple left the infant seat with the baby and ran toward the security checks at Terminal 1 in an attempt to reach the boarding gate for the flight."
A spokesman for Israel Police told CNN in a phone call that the matter appeared to have been resolved by the time police arrived on the scene. He said: "The baby was with the parents and there's no further investigation."
