1ºShanda Edwards: Technically California did not legally have African American slaves and California formally made it illegal to have slaves by 1850.
However some slave owners from the south did bring their slaves with them to California during the gold rush Era. They just had to be careful about doing that as it was illegal for them to have slaves.
Moving on to the present day, no one alive that was born in America has been a slave of other Americans and neither were their parents or grand parents.
Throwing money at this issue changes nothing and will only create animosity.

Do you feel like you need to defend reparations because your skin color is darker than mine? Were you a slave? 3ºHerbie Crone I agree, hold the Democratic slave owners and those that support them accountable. Many Americans paid the ultimate sacrifice in our Civil War to abolish slavery. Surely those that opposed and fought a war against slavery should not be made to pay for evil. We also should hold those that sold and still sell slaves accountable. America has an orchestrated “hatred” issue, sadly. What’s even crazier, the party that owned slaves and 100% voted against the abolishment of slavery and created The Negro Project/ Planned Parenthood, owns the black vote.. Don’t get me wrong, both parties are corrupt and incompetent, but history and facts are relevant.
