3ºWhile the take over is positive news what remains a big question is how much rotten eggs are being concealed and covered up by this acquisition.
Shareholders must be crying.
Too much dirty business took place when money was literally free and its definitely not constraint at SVB or Credit Swiss.
Everytime there is a collapse we see the banks look after themselves and cover things up via take overs etc but if the rot is not removed it will resurface with time.
Banks should stick to banking business its set up in the first place, want to gamble fine set up a new entity to do this, this way any failures wont drag the banks down.

Shareholders must approve the takeover. The emergency law is not valid for long. Emergency law has to be confirmed by parliament within a certain period of time. There is no majority.
We owe the mess to the liberal party's old-boy networks. Their people were influential in both Swissair and Kreditanstalt. In the 1980s, both companies were literally swimming in money. Credit Swiss must be nationalised. The board of directors and the management must be Swiss. Bonuses are forbidden. Any bonuses paid must be repaid. This must also apply to UBS, otherwise we will nationalise this bank too.
The solution to the big to fail problem is that a bank can never become that big. the security requirements are a joke. With 5% equity, you are considered a safe bank. If you want to buy a house with 5% equity, the same bank sends you home with a tired smile. The Swiss banks need an equity ratio of 25%.
