The barcode is turning 50, but who gets the credit for it is up for debate | CNN Business

Beep! The barcode — that rectangle of thick and thin parallel lines seen on seemingly every grocery product, package, prescription bottle and piece of luggage — is turning 50 years old

"In 1972, a Kroger store in Cincinnati began using a bull’s-eye code. During that same timeframe, a committee was formed within the grocery industry to select a standard code to be used in the industry. IBM proposed a design, based upon the UGPIC work and similar to today’s UPC code. On April 3, 1973, the committee selected the UPC symbol (based on the IBM proposal) as the industry standard. The success of the system since then has spurred on the development of other coding systems. George J. Laurer is considered the inventor of U.P.C. or Uniform Product Code.

First UPC Scanner
In June of 1974, the first U.P.C. scanner was installed at a Marsh’s supermarket in Troy, Ohio. The first product to have a barcode was Wrigley’s Gum."

// The relationship between science and faith //
After the concept that earth is a planet and that is spherical has prevailed, we returned to Galilo's trial by the church and judged the church as an enemy to science and reason. While the historical fact is that the church was the promoter of the European scientific progress. Galilo's trial by the church is an intelligent action; Galilo himself made an experiment from the tower of Biza when he threw two objects at the same moment. He discovered that they reached the earth at the same time even they were different in mass. This experiment proves that gravity according to Newton's concept is nonexistent. If gravity - according to Newton's concept- existed, the heavier object would reach the earth first. But that is not the case. Gravity as a mysterious attraction force between two masses never exists. Gravity is caused by the curvature of space-time under the influence of mass. Many people think that the water on earth is curved because of gravity and that tides are also caused by the gravity of the moon. Gravity causes tides on the side that faces the moon and the centrifugal force causes tides from the other side. If this is the case, we should see the double tides from the side facing the moon; we have gravity and the centrifugal force. But that does not exist. Second, many people think that the moon causes tides but the sun is too far so it has no effect on tides. However, the difference in distance between the sun and the moon from the earth does not compensate for the difference in mass between the sun and the moon. The moon is located on the same space-time of the earth. This affects the water on the earth at the edge of the earth. This causes tides. Second, water is level and cannot curve. Third, if earth was a globe, some rivers would flow upwards and that is impossible. Fourth, the moon has to orbit the earth and orbit the sun with earth. This means that it has to move in two directions simoltaneosly and that is impossible. According to the Holy Quran " the sun will not catch up with the moon and the night will not precede the day". According to flat earth model, the earth is flat and static while the sun and moon are above the earth and sun will not come between the moon and the earth. According to the Holy Quran " the moon has been assigned certain phases". The position of the moon from the sun causes the phases of the moon. Big Bang Theory states that the universe was a ball of energy called the singularity. This singularity exploded and after it cooled, electrons, protons and neutron formed. Out of these element, the universe formed. The theory states that there was matter more than anti-matter. Some of the matter collided with anti-matter and rest of matter formed the universe. After the acceleration of stars and the expansion of the universe had been discovered, the advocates of the theory said that the acceleration of stars is caused by the big bang. To explain why the universe never collapses against itself, they needed to include dark matter and dark energy. If the acceleration of stars was caused by the big bang, it would be deceleration and not acceleration. The real explanation is that the earth was surrounded by water. Space-time was flipped so that the water was compressed inside two layers of space-time. This created space between the earth and the sky and after that the universe was created. The mass of the universe was held by the space-time outside the universe. When space-time is stretched to a certain amount, it gives smoke. When stretching continues, matter and anti-matter are created in addition to flames. The flames heat krypton atoms which in turn produces a magnetic field that affects barium atoms. This gives magnetism to neutrons which unlock uranium atoms. The uranium atoms are broken down into barium, krypton and two neutrons. The whole process converts flames into time. This time enters the universe in order to make the expansion of the universe possible. This time is what they call the dark energy. As the universe has been expanding all these years, gravity formed out of this expansion. Gravity is misunderstood as dark matter. As the expansion continues, the universe will face a moment when the energy is reversed. This is stated by the Holy Quran " when the heaven will be torn apart and become like a red paint". This moment has another event; moon eclipse. The moon was on the same space-time of the earth while the sun was on the space-time of the universe. Space-time of the moon was pulled over the sun, wrapped around the earth and put under the earth. This produced a space-time knot in the middle distance between the sun and moon. When the moon faces the knot, partial eclipse occurs. When the sun faces the knot, penumbral eclipse occurs. When the moon and sun affect the knot by their masses, space-time is stretched. Gravity affects the photons in proportion to their energy. The energy of red photons is the least between the spectrum of visible light. This makes red photons pass the knot and reach the moon.
