1ºSo, the Giffords foundation likes to claim 85% of the mass shootings with 4 or more killed involved “assault weapons”….here’s what they DON’T tell you….
I did a snap shot on that data this morning. In the last 3.5 years nationwide, there were 23 shootings with “assault weapons” where 4 or more people were killed (157 killed, 126 injured) for an average of 6.6 events, 45 killed, 36 injured per year)…
Meanwhile over that same 3.5 year period?…roughly 66,500 gun homicides occurred….so, the Giffords “85%” claim works out to .24% (2.4 out of every 1000 gun homicides) were associated with assault weapon murders where 4 or more were killed.
