Aqib Sakhia, I agree. Companies have had offices in multiple places for ages, and we got to know our colleagues in other cities quite well, even before video conferencing. Now, we have multiple ways to collaborate in real time across continents (Teams or Slack, anyone?). If companies want to force people into offices, it’s because they don’t want to spend money on unused office space, or like many posters in these comments, they are projecting their own laziness onto those of us who have standards and work ethics. Or maybe they are Luddites who don’t get how far technology has come.

Lynne Hawkey 100% with the better attendance. I live in the Midwest, before work from, home a ton of people were not able to make it to work in and weather. But even BEFORE Covid, they realized there was a better way to do things, so when the weather was going to be bad, they told everyone to bring home their laptops and work from home. Also, even if you don’t have Covid, but and a bad cold or other illness, if you came to the office you would spread it around, get others sick, so they are calling out. Now, if you feel sick, but still like you could work, then work from home and done worry about spreading it around. I know a lot of people where if they only had mild Covid, they were able to work right through it without getting anyone sick.

Let’s translate this article. In the recent past Lyft was concerned with the labour shortage; So in order Not to exacerbate the situation they allowed their employees to work from wherever they wanted. Now ! they’re letting 1,072 people (13%) go and have absolutely No qualms regarding Labour Shortages.
Lyft must feel that in their business within their company that they’re employees provide significantly better output when they work from the office.
Many (But Not All) companies feel the same way and now that the labour advantages are clearly headed back towards the employer we’ll be seeing more and more employees back at the office for more of if not the entire week.

Jenni Smithins ride fares aren’t remotely enough to keep Lyft afloat. They need investors. Mind you this is not a problem unique to Lyft. So many tech startups are dependent on venture capitalists. Sure you need some capital to start, but the reality is that these companies almost never achieve profitability on their own. Sometimes the business isn’t being run properly, other times the business model just doesn’t work, and still all other times the people on top are intentionally scamming their investors. Either way these companies can only survive so long as there are investors willing to write them blank checks.

Debbi Altieri agreed. And there is thing called technology where you can turn on your webcam and see your teammates face to face. My team has done an excellent of maintaining a personal connection that way and even having meetings just for chatting (no work allowed) and remote team events. It’s allowed our company to hire better talent as well, because they are not tied to hiring people within driving distance. We are actually a lot more productive this way without people always coming up and interrupting, we also get more family time (less driving) and it’s just a better balance. And THAT is good for employers, having happy, balanced employees.

"The Spanish Social Revolution has been long neglected in English language works. Its importance as a revolutionary event and model, and as a concrete example of workers’ self-management by the people is just not recognized. My purpose in this collection is to provide an introduction to this unique experience. In my first chapter and friend Bookchin’s introductory essay, a general overview and context is presented. Most important, of course, is that this was a real experience for the people who took part. Through their words and deeds and the observations of the authors used in this collection, it is hoped that the reader will gain a meaningful understanding of the aims and organization of the anarchist collectives.": https://libcom.org/articl...939-sam-dolgoff

Ashly May also idiots like you telling me I can choose a different job need to read my comment! Its obvious yalls reading comprehension is poor. I never said I dont like my job or going into the office. I said I preferred working from home cause I don’t have those normal distractions in the office like office chitchat, being distracted with people walking around, and best part saving money n time commuting to n from the office. Not only that I have to pay for parking when I go into the office which is another added expense. Hence why I said companies should give employees the option if they want to come into the office or work from home. I don’t get why thats so hard for you idiots to understand

We need Government rulemakers to modify the George Bush EPA 10 square ft mold rule, which requires building owners to remediate mold problems in areas larger than 10 square feet, that is actually hurting people with allergic asthma. This is because the mold rule only addresses the visible mold on surfaces, but does not require building owners to address the underlying moisture problem that caused the mold growth in the first place. As a result, building owners may simply “wipe off the mold” on surfaces without actually fixing the moisture problem, leading to continued indoor mold growth and mold spore exposure for people with allergic asthma inside the indoor built environments. This highlights the importance of addressing the root cause of indoor mold growth and invisible mold spores to truly protect the health of all the building occupants.

I would like to propose the implementation of a ISSA free “cleaning for health program” to start to improve the indoor air quality and occupant health inside our schools and workplaces buildings.

10ºJeff Smīth all people aren’t? Maybe some aren’t, but that’s easy for figure out and then you remove them. Most I know are working more hours than ever and are happy to if it means they can easily squirrel away from time to time to pick up the kids, get in a walk. my company gets more hours out of me than ever before when I take those 2 hours a day lost on commuting and work. It certainly depends on the company but if your company isn’t figuring out how to work hybrid at least - if you can a that could be a sign of an antiquated workplace or poor leadership.
