Cars are as well regulated as possible. And whenever there's an incident or accident where it can be shown that tightening regulation would reduce the number of incidents, they are tightened.
That's why drunk driving laws were put in place.
It's why seatbelt laws were put in place.
It's why driving age was established.
It's why truck drivers face such tight regulations.
All these changes in regulation have greatly reduced the incident rate, so despite how very many cars there are, the number of deaths did not shoot up so high as it could have.
Gun control laws don't eliminate gun deaths. But a decent gun control law that kept this asshats gun at home would probably have prevented THIS death.

It easy to get rid of, there is even a process for it. Get both houses to vote 2/3 and 3/4 of the states to agree. It is in Article V of the Constitution.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.
