Melinda Luckey How do you know the extent of what I know? And what drives you to need to be so snarky about it? Are you knowledgeable in these fields? Or just rely on those you've been lead to believe are the only trustworthy sources? Like those who prescribe drugs that cause suicidal thoughts and actions to extremely depressed people. That often require more drugs to make them work, with the same effects. And never consider diet, hormones, or anything else. MDs have little to no nutritional training. And some go thru years of talk therapy (where you do almost all the talking), even hospitalizations, and still bounce in and out of black holes. Some finally never emerging. I love the title to that article... L-methylfolate Promising therapy for TRD, or treatment resistant depression. We threw every drug at it, how about we try a B vitamin. Look up the drug Deplin, that sells for $200+, it's just 15 mg of L-methylfolate. I'm pretty well acquainted with each of those subjects. Especially how severe depression can lead to suicide. But we also don't know if she was taking a drug that caused this. I only advocate for being aware of the potential deadly side effects of psychiatric drugs, and exploring the various physiological root causes of mental health issues. It really is quite interesting.

Kassandra Kelz Well that certainly can do it. But was she also taking an anti-depressant or other prescription drugs? So many cause suicidal ideation and actions, never considered when it happens. And then B vitamins, D3, and other deficiencies, gut, thyroid, are all powerfully related to mental health. (Those who eat little or no animal based foods get no B12 and low levels of other Bs.) Combined with nutrient zapping alcohol and meds. . . But all we hear is suicide caused by mental health problems, alcohol, maybe illegal pills. . . But discussion of well-known root causes and natural nutrient-based solutions aren't approved by the FDA (see the warning on every supplement label and ad).

Melinda Luckey I was deeply deeply depressed all my life too. Inescapable black holes interspersed with high functioning. Thought I was forever as diagnosed. Until I found out that there are underlying physiological causes. That she was able to blog and write books, have a marriage and a family in between bouts of deep depression could very well mean there were roots never considered. And was she also on an anti-depressant or other drug that causes suicidal actions? I'm sorry to have annoyed you, but I'm not dead too because I figured this out. And it can't hurt to consider all the possibilities. Plenty of good information available. L-methylfolate is just one B vitamin. They all have serious effects on mental health. So does severe D3 deficiency and thyroid issues. . . Then combine them. Why can you cope just fine and then suddenly fall into a well of dispair and then pop back out for no apparent reason? It really is a very interesting topic to explore.
