This isn't related to this particular post, but, CNN, please don't take off John King. He and Anderson Cooper are the only people I trust to give me my daily news and question the world we are living in. They start my day and end my day informed. And who is gonna compete with MSNBC's Steve at the big board if you don't have John King at yours? He loves his stats so much he makes me love them too. (I only watch Rachael over there and she's only on Mondays now). Although, on CNN, I do also love my Sunday international perspective from Fareed. He seems worth trusting. Recently you have made a lot of changes. Some good and some bad. Nice that you are trying to show a bigger variety of perspectives, including the conservatives (like todays interview on John King's show with that Republican congressman from the Freedom caucus. Very nice to hear the other side's arguments and King showed him respect instead of the usual attacking and not listening that so many of your people do!). No one learns anything from those type of interviews. And aren't you there to keep us informed! Isn't that your job and why we watch? It's a shame you took off Reliable Sources! I really liked that show and it also felt trustworthy and gave us a reason to question news sources, so we don't all become idiots that just believe anything we hear. Taught us to protect ourselves from media brainwashing which is a big problem in today's world. Bad move on your part! So glad you got rid of Don Lemon and Cuomo. They were reporters with an agenda. Wolfe Blitzer is another one that's hard to trust to be telling the truth. He acts like the world is gonna end if he disagrees with or dislikes something he is reporting. Too much self-agenda there too. Anyway, that's my opinion and I am just a typical American watching your channel. Female, 69 yrs old, Master's degree, middle class, registered Democrat that has voted Republican occasionally over the years. So, take it all for what it is worth to you. And please show some interviews and town halls with ALL of the candidates, not just your preferences. I would like to consider RF Kennedy for my vote but you need to treat him fairly. As you should all of the candidates. So far only Fox News has given him the time of day to state his vision and that is not right. Hope you want to inform rather than brainwash us.

Dan Lochner, that's all very nice, but you will still please forgive me if I still think that giving someone that has not fully developed as an adult should have something that is pretty much lethal in it's purpose.

Then again everyone that had guns where I grew up knew exactly how to use them, and was very highly trained in their use...as in just a bit more training than a "firearm safety course".

As to the NRA becoming a political organization, one can not blame anything else but the politicians that made it so, can we. Sadly they all seem to belong to the same political party, and that party has been..."overtaken by events".

John Wenzlaff well, if I wanted to, I can drive a couple hours and buy any gun I want at a trade show or private purchase and there are no laws that keep me from driving back to a state with regulations. I’m also on suicide/homicide inducing mental health meds and can purchase anything I want in this country, even online. So can anyone, even criminals and illegals coming into lax law red states, who trip over themselves keeping the gun suppliers in business. Hell, this kid did it legally, so he could go kill 3 grandmas driving down the street and injure for life 4 innocent victims and 2 officers.

Esau Malenga Phiri there were at least three historical examples in which a government attempted to confiscate firearms of Americans. In each case, these actions were a catalyst for further armed conflict.

Though I don’t believe that will be the immediate case if confiscation were to happen tomorrow. What would likely happen is the majority of States will not comply. Those States that would comply, many county law enforcement will not comply. It is highly likely the US military will not comply with performing door to door confiscation, and/or work to undermine such operations.

People have the right to defend themselves. Though one country is willing to accept life on their knees, that doesn’t mean Americans are willing to.

Matthew Halm, my issues include politicians passing laws that make it easier for every lunatic and criminal in this country to have access to guns and high capacity clips capable of murdering large groups of innocent people. 30 years of republican gun laws are doing nothing to protect people from being gunned down, anywhere in this country. Where's all the so-called "good guys with guns" when our school children are being slaughtered? Where are they when innocent people are being gunned down at church, or in theaters, malls, nail salons, grocery stores, wal-marts and any other place where these shootings occur. The so-call "good guys with a gun" never around.

Harriet Acquah ..over 200…what you’re NOT being told, and what’s not making the propaganda outlets…ummm sorry, meant to say “news” , is that the majority of these mass shootings are committed with handguns in our urban centers by young black males, many of whom can’t legally own firearms.

Go look at the gun bio archive and cross reference the suspects with web searches for arrests/mug shots…or better yet, look at this https://mass-shootings.info/

If they broadcast everyone of these on the news daily, it would be clear where/what the problem is, but they won’t do that for fear of upsetting the political narrative, being called racist, or some other detriment.

Just remember this…FACT CANNOT BE RACIST.

Matthew HalmMatthew HalmMatthew Halm but the whole idea of having the right to defend yourself shouldn't disregard the fact that the very weapons that you people intend to use as a means of self defense are also the same that are ending people's right to be alive every single day

The only thing that stops the authorities from changing the fire arms law is that they too benefit from the sales of guns and ammunition

And you people think they care about your right to defend yourself, I mean you people are killing each other can't you see?

And the worse part is most people who gets killed are innocent people who don't even have a reason to own a gun but some sick guy who just woke up trigger happy decides to to go for a target practice in the streets ends up killing someone's son, daughter, father, mother or grand parents

And almost every crime in America involves a gun but I get you maybe for you people it's normal to hear about gun violence everyday in the news so you Don't get bothered #KeepItUp

Glenn Dowdy I took those stats from of your own government. You continue to down play the absolute mind numbing number of children killed by guns in America every year. It seems lost on you that there there are on average , 600 mass shootings per year in your country ..and the prevailing notion is to solve the problem by adding MORE GUNS!!.
Canada has had fewer mass shootings in the past 45 years than america has had this week. The leading cause of death for children in america is gun shot.
You seem moreninteredted in my typo than actually having a productive conversation.

Nahla Shallal Pattah well they will know where to get them but not that easily but currently we see that even kids in the United States are able to go about shooting people randomly just as we see in this post and off course the other recent post where a 12 year old shot and killed a person at a parking lot

And incase you don't know the main thing that fuels or I should say the number one reason police in the United States use as a point to back themselves up anytime they kill a person is the fact that they thought the person was about to pull out a gun so they shot him first

10ºMatthew Halm, all good suggestions, but how about keeping guns out of the hands of lunatics. How about background checks to determine whether a person is stable enough to own a gun? How about mandatory training prior to purchasing a gun? Republicans gun laws don't even limit criminals from having as many guns and as much ammunition as they want. In my State, that has been run by repubs for 25 years, anybody can buy guns and can openly carry them without even having to pass a background check or register them. Police cannot even stop a person from carrying an AR-15 with 100 rounds of ammunition into a Wal-mart, church, mall, concert or anywhere else, until after they begin shooting. Are these the republican laws that you're defending?
