In the Orkney Islands of Scotland, book mobile still makes trips to small towns. I suspect some places in the US still use book mobiles as well.
Also, many small towns and rural areas in the US which don’t have library service have Little Free Libraries or community bookshelves located in cafes.
Yes, there will always be those who steal books, but getting folks to read is important, so it’s worth the risk.
