William Michaels 1. A judge assesses whether or not there's sufficient evidence to take action in a RFL scenario. An angry ex can't simply make a call and have your guns taken away. Have you researched this topic?

We use a similar system when child abuse is suspected in a home. It's better to be safe than sorry in that scenario and even more so when a mass shooting is likely where many people could be killed.

I do understand the potential for abuse here, but judges are elected officials in many cases, so they should have a more cautious approach to avoid gaining a bad reputation for this kind of thing. Perhaps require two judges to sign off?

2. If someone can pass a background check who has had any kind of non-self defense related violence or threatening acts in their past since they became a teen, the background check is too weak. For example, the Uvalde shooter used to carry around bags of dead cats, had the nickname 'school shooter', and even said what he was going to do. Unfortunately, this was when he was a minor so it didn't affect his gun purchases. Since Biden passed the Safer Communities Act last June, the background check age has been lowered. Thank God.

3. It's interesting that you're arguing against the mental health issue because that's where the Right always points to. They often blame mass shootings on mental health issues but then often cut funding for mental health services. Explain that. Also, I never said that everyone on those meds shouldn't have firearms. However, the fewer guns we have on the street, the safer we will be in most cases.

4. Why does the Right fight for CONVICTED domestic abuse perps to have firearms while they know that the majority of mass shootings are related to domestic issues? Explain that.

No single solution will solve our school shooting crisis, so we need to address the problem from as many angles as we can.

a. Require that teachers have classroom doors completely closed and locked when students are in the room unless the teacher is at the door. No school shooter has ever completely breached a locked classroom door. (Sandy Hook Advisory Commission)

b. Require every adult who works in a school to have completed basic First Aid, CPR, and "Stop the Bleed" training.

c. Require that every classroom has wound packing materials and at least one tourniquet for if they’re trapped in a room with an injured victim.

d. Require schools to conduct an annual safety and vulnerability assessment.

e. Require 'See Something, Say Something' programs in schools that teach kids to identify warning signs that someone may harm themselves or others and how to report them.

f. Make mental health services free and easily available

g. Increase school security

h. Adding and/or strengthening well-written red flag laws and background checks in every state

i. Preventing the gun industry (or ANY others) from donating to political campaigns

j. Legally require social media companies to monitor for and report threats

k. Storage requirements for firearms that are stored in homes where children live

l. Hold parents responsible if their child uses their gun illegally

m. Increasing the purchasing age to 21 for all firearms and ammo. ("Data shows at least 59 percent of the 2,275 school shootings researchers recorded since 1970 were committed by someone under 21 years old." (Hearst Connecticut Group, 2022)

What we've been trying hasn't worked well, so doing nothing will only result in more school tragedies. We don't have to agree on everything. Just talking through ideas to find a things we agree on and then encouraging our senators and representatives to make those changes happen is how we make progress and save lives.

Start by reviewing the multi-faceted plan that addresses our school shooting crisis. Then you can use the links provided to find contact info for your senators and representatives. Share with them the parts of the plan you agree with and encourage them to write and pass life saving legislation as soon as possible.

You have the opportunity to push for life saving changes to be made. It's our responsibility to protect our nation's youth and we have to make progress NOW. Inaction makes us no better than the 370+ officers in Uvalde who stood around doing nothing for 70+ minutes.

I'm not asking to hear about which points you disagree with, just state which aspects of the multi-faceted plan that you intend to contact your representatives to support today.

Della Ashton Buchanan that’s true they don’t have many “mass” shootings. They do have shootings. But they have way more mass stabbings and beheadings. Even some knives and swords are illegal in Germany. They don’t have near as much gang activity in Germany because the German government gives gang bangers maximum sentences. They actually try to put violent people away. Here in the United States we release them right back into the streets in some areas. As far as our mentally insane they’re in public with everyone else in Germany after a German judge rules them mentally incompetent they get sent off to the nut house.

Michael Morrison
Go Mikey go!
Now your onto something!
Did you read in the study that the majority of incidents, the horrific ones are the fault of a defunct mental health institution??
Do you see the correlation?
Now let’s take an individual with no self worth and see what happens when they see the “news” reports. Oh how the leftists media fawns over those evil killers, splattering their names all over people’s tv’s! The worthiness pos now feels empowered and knows even in death he will be famous!
Now the rest of the “mass” shootings are indeed criminal acts related to drugs. Notice how “they” use age groups to skew the number’s..
So you see, it’s actually rare given our population and the US is far from the most violent country…

Paul Howell posting links for the sake of posting links isn't the best strategy in the world.

The facts are the rest of those state populations live under the same laws and aren't out shooting people with the frequency of a handful of cities in their states. For instance, the violent crime rate for my state is 6.7. Yet, it's driven by one city in particular whose violent crime rate is 25.2. The only one close to it has a violent crime rate of 11.87. Both democrat controlled. Remove those two cities from the equation and it wouldn't even show up as a blip on the map regardless of the gun laws. And as the link above shows...73% of the time, that's true with all the most dangerous cities.

The problem in the USA is that it is impossible to tell a “good guy with a gun” from a “bad guy with a gun” until the bad guy with a gun pulls the trigger.

There have been 228 mass shootings in the USA so far this year… that’s more than all Western Democracies combined. The US has the most gun deaths per capita compared to every other wealthy nation… it’s obvious that our ridiculously lax gun laws, the lack of action by lawmakers tragedy after tragedy and lame excuses by ammocentric incels are reasons why gun violence is a uniquely American problem.

Dale Grissom Where do you think think the mass shooters get the guns. If it's Chicago then the guns most likely were bought in Indiana a Red state I felt very safe in living in Northern suburbs of NJ until I moved to a red state for work. The most dangerous places in the country are open carry red states. NYC Boston and LA are a lot safer than Dallas, Miami. And Atlanta where you don't even need a permit to get a weapon of mass destruction In 2017 the first Trump did was sign an executive order that overturning Pres Obama's rule that Made it harder to buy guns if you were mentally ill

Travis Christopher well seen first hand a father use con scheme with his ex wife to get sole custody! By ex wife I mean not related to child and when father of the year has 70% because he is custodial parent 90% of the time child is with ex wife. Figure he wouldn't lie in court because he has a badge but still he tried. So do I believe some Red Flag laws would be or could be pulling strings? Absolutely without a doubt. However, evidence is evidence so thankfully Dashcam, home security cameras, receipts and GPS dropped pins go a very long way
