A tropical storm named Bret has formed over the central Atlantic Ocean and will likely become a hurricane by Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center said.

1ºImagine a crazed white homeless man shouting threats and obscenities at passersby. That same homeless man also has a record of assaulting people including an elderly woman. Worse, he also has an active warrant for his arrest.

Now imagine a law-abiding black Marine trying to restrain this crazed and violent person to protect those around him. In the ensuing altercation, the homeless man accidentally dies. Do you think that black Marine is going to be indicted by a grand jury and spend the rest of his life in prison? The answer is, of course, no.

However, if it's a crazed black homeless man and a law-abiding white American Marine, the Marine will be indicted and face 15+ years in prison. That is what's happening in the case of Daniel Penny and it demonstrates yet another marked disparity in our current criminal justice system.
