Does sex addiction really exist?

I believe in a definition of addiction as the use of something to relieve stress which isn't a solution to the underlying stress problems. I would be surprised if sex had never been used by anybody that way. The oft quoted statistic that $3,075.64 is being spent every second on pornography on the internet would seem to back me up on that. Also, those who work in the caring professions who are exposed to those kinds of complaints know that there are plenty of people asking for help with it. If you want information about the 'official word' on the matter, it's worth noting that the latest DSM does NOT include it as a disorder. But that doesn't mean the committee doesn't believe it exists, so don't be misled by that. It's just that most of their decisions are political.
