Bud Light rolls out a new ad campaign to turn around slumping sales

The company hopes its new ad, which shows people enjoying Bud Light despite facing some of summer’s biggest pain points, can bring back customers.

Heather, I didn’t cry over those labels, but I understand people that found them offensive, it’s racist to use a historically oppressed minority group as a mascot to sell your products. Aunt Jemima, uncle Ben and Land O Lakes had stereotypes on their labels for everyone to see for decades. Dylan Mulvaney being on one can of Bud Light that she featured on her TikTok channel hardly affects the whole nation or any race of people. The two aren’t the same. If you don’t want to see Dylan Mulvaney, then don’t go watch her videos. Minority groups couldn’t avoid the mammy, the butler, or the Indian chief in there every day environments.

Heather Michalski Kame
no, Heather, it doesn't work that way.
For me to be anti-straight, I'd have to be as bent out of shape about beer companies marketing to straight people as all you have gotten over them marketing to LGBT.
(Considering that's constant, I'd imagine my boycott would have to be against everything always)
What you're trying to do here is make the other person "as bad" in a situation where at least part of you recognizes that it's pretty bad to hate on a whole group of people.
Sorry. Can't help your guilt. You need to deal with it.
Maybe you should do some reading. Find out what being trans is actually about (so, for goodness sake, don't research trans on anti trans sites).
Maybe if you understood that these people just want to live their lives, don't deserve the hate and are just as human as everyone else, you can stop being anti-trans and just let them be.
In case you're wondering, you don't need to take up the fight for trans rights. It's okay to just not be trying to legislate them to death.

Philip Louis why? Why is it a problem? If they were trying to convince Irish people to buy Bud Light, and made a commercial putting some Irish person on a Bud Light can, would that mean that everybody who isn’t Irish would have to immediately take offence and boycott the beer and say “that’s it, they’ve crossed the line!”

If the commercial isn’t aimed at you, and also doesn’t appeal to you, then it’s not your commercial to worry about.

Or should the people who aren’t Irish just ignore the ads that aren’t for them and continue with their day.

Because it’s just a beer, and just an af campaign aimed at not-you. It isn’t doing anything to you… Including getting you intoxicated, because it is a Bud Light after all.

Republicans just want to spread their hatred and get satisfaction from hurting people and companies. They get pissed off when one doesn’t share their hatred or try to spread their hatred. They are afraid of facts, evidence and proof. They believe their opinions and beliefs are the same thing as facts. The hypocrisy of them is hilarious. They want to stop “cancel culture” yet they are the ones “canceling culture” by boycotting American brands and banning books etc. they call themselves “patriots” but would rather see a Mexican company take the lead in sales of beer. They approve of innocent people being killed in school shootings and mass shootings yet they call themselves “pro-life” and yet the majority of the mass shooters themselves are white male Republicans. Name one transgender person who was a mass shooter in recent history? And they go over the top they are crying snowflakes all over a rainbow . And then they try to play the victim and blame everyone else for their problems. Can’t be held accountable and don’t take responsibility for anything they do. They are a laughing joke to the rest of the world and country. They don’t understand that everyone else is laughing at everything they say and do.

I saw Kevin O’Leary a few weeks back on the topic. I think he is a blowhard as well but he was right.

Whenever you launch a marketing campaign you always have to look at your demographics. Everyone is always looking to increase the market share. There is new competition in the market and more selection. BL was most likely losing market share to the new brands of craft and micro brews.

I used to drink BL as well but being in Midwest, that was the brand promoted on many places. I never thought of it as top shelf. If there was a craft beer or local on tap I would order that instead. The market they are chasing would look more at that.

I rotflmao on the comments of the redneck conservatives. I know a lot of liberal/democrats as well. They didn’t like the campaign either and didn’t appreciate to be insulted by the VP.

BL had good branding until they went all political. The commercials were fun. It still applies today T&A sells. Even CNN documentaries on television through the decades talked about it when interviewing past actors and crew.

The old marketing with BL logo was brand familiar. I still go to bars/lounges. In the past I could say you see the logo and it was I know that and order it. Now the places I go have some craft and I order that.

As I am typing this I am enjoying my craft brew on the patio.
