What is gender dysphoria, and is it a mental disorder? | CNN

Gender dysphoria typically begins in childhood, but symptoms can occur anytime in life.

Adolescents must know that, today and every day, millions of children around the world will stop watching their favorite cartoon, get a new hairstyle, try a new food, and will never play outside again with their friends, many who will be replaced in time with new friends, as everyone evolves on their personal journeys.

If advertising statistics can prove that continuously promoting something will have an effect, then the gender issue will undoubtedly confuse many children who otherwise, would never have naturally thought about it―that's why much caution must be taken, to protect those caught in the "crosshairs".

What needs to be conveyed, is the fact that likely 100% of children and adolescents are going to dramatically change their viewpoint, fashion and hairstyles no differently than the 1960s hippies now grandparents who resemble nothing of their past and can't believe they once acted and thought what they did in their younger years.

And that the era of adolescence for perhaps the majority, has historically been characterized as confusing, awkward and a time period when you are coming into your own, the onset of adulthood where most are exploring feelings and partnerships, choosing what type of movies, documentaries, books, sports, or philosophies that currently compel you, and that collectively, will further shape and build your character.

It will also populate the library your mind is building, with information that in totality, will be used to contrive your responses, build your life philosophy, and serve as references marks that once were blank pages now filled with information that your mind will work behind the scenes to organize and help you gain wisdom from.

Adolescents should also spend a good deal of time thinking about the divorce rate and try to fathom how people once madly in love, could later grow intolerance or loathing for someone they once couldn't get enough of so they can better understand how time will change everything, eventually in some ways, to ensure they give due considerations to something that cannot easily be predicted or undone.

Everyone needs to be their own guide and spiritual professor or leader, who does their best to protect and shield themselves from their own naivety and be wise enough to conduct research or seek council, like the lyrics in the song below says, "Ask the man in your heart for the answer", as we were all created from the oldest mind in existence.

Being trans is not a mental illness and gender dysphoria is a distress, not a mental illness either. That's what all major psychiatric and psychological associations agree on and this is why the newest version of the DSM changed the diagnostic from gender identity disorder to gender dysphoria so that the diagnostic would be based on the distress experienced without stigmatizing it as a disorder. The only reason it's in the DSM at all as a diagnostic is to allow trans folkx to get some insurance coverage when they seek help with this distress. There's a debate as to whether or not it should even stay there as it leads many people to think that, since it's in the DSM, it's a mental illness, which it's not. #IAmHereUS
