95% of wildfires are caused by humans and has nothing to do with climate change. 20% of these fires are cause by arsonists. Poor forest management is the cause for these huge fires. A lack of controlled fires to burn off undergrowth is to blame. Cutting firebreaks will help in controlling these fires and helping firefighters. One of the bases I was stationed at in the 1970s we cut firebreaks around the perimeter. Let loggers harvest trees by cutting firebreaks throughout the west. Canada should do the same. It would make fighting these fires easier. People will argue that putting in firebreaks will damage the forest. Doesn’t fires damage the forest? Doesn’t fires destroy private property? People need to get really.
