1ºJake Roberts The sealant is for the windshield, which is one of basically 3 tools needed to install one. The side window involves a lot more than the windshield. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that. Just because YOU can do it in half an hour doesn't mean that we all can. Some of us prefer to let a professional do it; someone who knows what they're doing and has the confidence to do it. And once you include labor, the side window takes more time, so it's more expensive. I've had both done. And that's with me piecing out the glass from a pick & pull.
2ºFor everyone complaining about him breaking the windsheild and not the side window. A windshield is a laminate glass=safety glass, does not explode causing flying debris, as well as the fact it is the farthest window from the child=child is better protected. Side window is made of tempered glass=will explode sending glass every where and is close to the child=child could have gotten hit with flying glass shards=not good. The man did the right thing! As for getting the child out, he should have simply unlocked the side door once inside and removed the child through said door, not pull the child through the windshield possibly scratching the child up with broken glass.

4ºAnn Camber my 2007 Nissan truck won't let me lock the doors if the keys are in the ignition and I know some cars won't lock if it detects the keys are inside the car.
 you know the funny thing about this whole story is that 20 years ago it wouldn't have been a story because we would've had a small army of people with cell phone cameras. This just would've been a story that circulated around this person's friends and talked about at the poolside or campfire occasionally... "hey remember when I had to smash my window to get the kid out of the car"… and now here it is, all kinds of people are talking about something because it got caught on camera. What a funny world we live in now.
5ºI get it… when my oldest was a baby I put her on the car seat and put the key on her lap. As I shut the door locking it from the inside for safety I noticed I left the key there. I totally panicked and ran in the parking lot like crazy screaming for help. The Publix cart attender ran inside to call 911 for me. This was before cell phones. Cops came super fast and opened the car for me before my baby could break a sweat. But, I was prepared to break the windows if they took longer to arrive! My baby was my priority at that moment.
6ºI agree. It's easy to say what should have been done. As a parent , I don't know what I would have done in a state of panic like that. Thank goodness he realized he locked his baby and keys in the car by accident. I am just happy he got his child out. I am a parent and dog owner. A few months ago my dog got injured I was in a panic state and began vomiting. My family had to to calm me down so I could call the ER vet. Don't judge just be grateful it hasn't happened to you . This dad thought quickly. Great job daddy!!!
