1ºI think Venice now charges a Tourist Fee for non-residents to enter the city to try and combat mass tourism, but I imagine the city officials, and the Country as a whole, aren't very eager to thwart the city's main source of revenue. The entire city's economy is driven by Tourism. Venice's Tourism, alone, accounts for 9% of the entire country's revenue. In regard to the impact of climate change, global warming is causing sea levels to rise, and that puts Venice in a particularly vulnerable position . The city is literally sinking. However, without tourism, there's not really a way to fund preservation. I see why it's a major issue.
