1ºOf course, but your definition of grave robbing and mine are different! I believe archeological research is not grave robbing. Some layperson stealing and selling items from graves is.
As for when I would be ok with archaeologists digging up my family? I think perhaps a thousand years could be beneficial. We love history and would hope a future historian, archaeologist, anthropologist, etc could learn from us and our memory would continue on. After all, we aren’t using our bodies after that
One of my favorite things is getting glimpses of details of ancient peoples’ lives and how they lived. Thinking of them so long after they are gone keeps them alive in memory, in a way. I think that’s very special. I recently read about a VERY ancient burial of a child in Africa, from one of our earliest ancestors. I thought the care and love put into buying this child, the parent’s grief…it was a connection across tens of thousands of years. I would want my child to be remembered like that, me, my family.
