1ºKathy Adams There were 2 specialists and 4 alternates who traveled with the 4 athlete regular team. The next best gymnasts were all there. Would you have felt better if she had landed on her neck and suffered a serious injury?
It would be great if all of you stating your opinions on Simone withdrawing actually knew something about how Olympic gymnastics are chosen and what happens if one gets sick or injured. With 4 alternates (none of whom got to step up because the 2 specialists and the extra team member did instead), any chance of another gymnast seeing an Olympic mat were miniscule.
2ºLyn Castanie Simone Biles never "quit on her team". She got the twisties in the middle of a vault, which was clear to any informed person on the subject of gymnastics, and had to pull out of the rest of the team competition so that she didn't kill herself attempting the difficulty of her routines. Her team isn't upset with her, and were frankly inspired by her strength. Your pisspoor attitude about a silver medal is embarrassing.
She deserves to be considered for teams, and will deserve her placement on those teams, because she performs the hardest and most well executed gymnastics in the country and world.
3ºYeah for the young ldies not grown ups. don't get me wrong, young folk should play the game. As we know, sports pay a heep of money to do this. However, too many folk depend on sports to make a lavish living and all that money has driven most of these atheletes to another level of ignorance. do you agree that an education should pay as much? I mean folk go to school for 4 years and still don't get paid what they deserve. so, leave a child's game up to the child. That's what's wrong with sports today. They do it for the money and not the ;love of the game.
4ºGOAT is the dumbest acronym of all time. It has no merit, you can’t compare someone now to someone that competed years and years ago. You can’t compare Michael Jordan to Bob Cousy or Labron James, or Barry Sanders to Walter Payton or Jim Brown. The same goes for Simone Biles compared to Shannon Miller, Gabby Douglas or Oksana Chusovitina. Is she really the GOAT? You have a compelling argument. Has competed in 8 Olympics and has 5 moves named after her. Biles has one good Olympics under her belt and choked in her 2nd. GOAT is a dumb acronym and means nothing. She is wildly talented and I hope she has her head straight as all athletes have to endure to compete at that level. There are no free passes and no anointing anyone GOAT.

She look like she was tired from the floor performance. all the young girls were just standing around after their performance. I think this girl like Bret Farve loves the attention. Some of these folk don't know when to leae well enough alone. I mean Let Chiles and the other young ladies have their moment in the sun! Simone has a guy who's a professional ball player so she don't need the money. So, why is this girl back out there? 8ºBetter Hope you can count on her not to mess and quite again. Let’s remember Simone Biles decided to quit right after she screwed up (plain and simple she screwed up under pressure) was embarrassed and everybody kept making up excuses for her.
The fact is Simone Biles could not handle the embarrassment of messing up so Simone Biles quit on her team and then she claimed mental issues.
If she had any sort of mental issues over this they would have taken her out of everything immediately for precautionary issues to herself. (All it was is that she was embarrassed that she screwed up under pressure).
But no she was allowed to come back after being allowed to “cherry pick her events that she wanted to perform”.
(The best part is that it’s all true but when you post truth about her and if you’re white some will bring out the BS race card labeling you a racist and then they will bash because she is Black.
Know is she great yes but she quit on her team after being embarrassed for screwing up under pressure then taking herself out of a few events then was allowed to cherry pick her events and come back and nobody talks about that.
Also imagine the pressure that she put on the rest of the team but nobody talks about that.
If it were anyone else on that team that did this most people would be saying the same thing.
Even in an interview she even said (I did it for myself)

Or like most people after reading this will just keep making up excesses for her like she could have been injured or had some sort of mental issues.
No she was embarrassed that she screwed up and that is why she was allowed back to compete and also cherry pick the easiest routines she knew she could do to look good for herself not the team.
9ºDonnie Waymire She did. The team had 4 regular members, 2 specialists and 4 alternates that traveled with the team. Jordan Chiles took her place on bars, Grace McCallum took her place on floor and beam and Suni Lee won gold in the All Around instead of Simone. Mykayla Skinner got to compete on vault when Simone scratched because there is a 2 athlete limit from each country on individual competitions. Simone and Jade Carey had qualified for vault. The top 8 get to compete on each individual event. Mykayla was in the top 8 but was not originally eligible to compete vault because of the 2 athlete rule. Mykayla took Simone's place and won a silver medal. Suni wouldn't have won gold if Simone hadn't dropped out. Jade Carey won floor instead of Simone.. The remaining gymnasts actually all benefitted from Simone dropping out.
