More gay men can give blood as ‘one of the most significant changes in blood banking history’ gets underway | CNN

The Red Cross believes that new guidance should make nearly everyone feel welcome.

The Red Cross
Protecting America is not what China Joe cares about. What China Joe cares about is bagging cash with his grifter family. And boy have they bagged a mountain of cash. The Biden family scored some $31,000,000.00 doing deals with Chinese operators with direct ties to the highest levels of Chinese intelligence. And in 2013, Joe and Hunter Biden flew aboard Air Force Two. Less than two weeks later, Hunter Biden's firm inked a $1,500,000,000.00 deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government. Once you understand all that--that the Biden family's bread is buttered by China--everything this corrupt fraud has done (and has not done) to turn a blind eye to China (i.e. the Chinese spy balloon, disinterest in holding China accountable for COVID, etc.) begins to make sense.

Beck Tasto Martin yeah I’m not reading all that but since I saw something about screening it should be noted that gay men are extremely more likely to know their status because they test far more frequently. Most heterosexual people do not ever test. Regardless, since you started your comment with an insult I am not going to waste my time with you. I don’t care if you agree or are educated because you’d rather bring politics into a conversation than just have a discussion. It’s so sad to see the far right’s obsession with politics. Not everything has to do with Biden or Trump. I can assure you neither of them care about you receiving a bag of blood.

So the general public’s health is less important than gay men’s feelings? CNN makes it sound like gay men are not responsible for most of the HIV cases—which is not true. One in six will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime. Approximately 17% of gay men living with HIV are undiagnosed. CNN— do you really think people are honest when they’re asked questions about their sexual history? People are not honest to their doctors. Why would they be honest to the Red Cross?

CNN your divisive and irresponsible reporting is responsible for much of the turmoil in America today.

Danny Kollman Wikipedia estimates gay men to be SIXTY times more likely to contract HIV than other men.

you’re fitting in with the men who CNN interviewed for this article, who were far more concerned about being asked embarrassing questions, than about actually knowing their HIV status. A much better argument that you could make is, why would a gay man who knowingly has HIV go donate blood to the Red Cross? I think it’s highly unlikely. What is much more concerning are the approximately 17% of gay men who do not know they have HIV.

You seem to be mistaken about statistics in general. The pool of not gay men having hiv is infinitesimally small. And these men are most likely to be intravenous drug users, not a likely group to donate blood. Still, you are correct, there is risk. Which is why the Red Cross asks screening questions about drug use. And true, this very small group of intravenous drug using men who want to donate blood could lie, just like any other demographic, could lie about their drug use.

Preventing the spread of serious disease should use all common sense tools available. Screening and limiting the by FAR largest group of people who may have undiagnosed hiv makes sense.
