He has the constitutional right to fire her. I wish people like you would stop saying Florida is a racist state. Florida has among the lowest unemployment rate for blacks. Within.1% of the lowest unemployment rate in the county. Florida also has among the lowest unemployment rate for Hispanics as well.
A true look at how a state treats their citizens of all demographics is what it does to allow them a high quality of life. Pride in themselves and in all important metrics Florida is one of the most equitable states in the country.
I guess you forgot about Andrew Warren who was also fired for not doing his job. He was white. The Supreme Court of Florida upheld his firing.
6ºSo, I just wanted to point out how misleading the mainstream media are. I happened to accidentally watch the news conference referenced in the article today…watch not read about or heard second hand, so I know what I saw and heard. Here’s what the article intentionally leaves out. They mention the two sheriffs that spoke are not from overlapping counties to the suspended state’s attorney’s district, when in fact they mention one is from Polk County, the county directly adjacent to the suspended state’s attorney’s district, and the other that the didn’t mention was from Brevard County, directly adjacent on the other side of the suspended state’s attorney’s district. They certainly have a vested interest in the dealings of the county their county touches.
Additionally, the case for suspending this state’s attorney was laid out in the news conference, with statical comparisons between them and two other state’s attorneys of the same political party in Miami Dade and Palm Beach counties, by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, and her or what she laid out are glaringly absent in the article. The difference between the suspended state’s attorney and the other two compared was pretty shocking, and showed pretty sound reasoning that the suspended state’s attorney was neglecting her duties to be a voice for the victims and effectively protect the citizens of her district by not providing for effective prosecution of criminals in her district.
Also missing is the real reason this sort of came to a head fairly suddenly, and that was her failure to place a criminal on a reasonable pre trail hold, and that same released criminal shot two Orlando cops, cops in her district, in the face critically wounding them a few days ago. Regardless of what one thinks about DeSantis, the point of this article is purely political, vastly devoid of facts pertaining to the real issues at hand specifically with this suspended state’s attorney. Is there any other purpose for this article other than to further divide citizens that may not know for themselves what really happened? Read the article, and then listen to the news conference for yourself. We’ll never get to a positive outcome for our country if we continue to let lies like this permeate our society. We’re supposed to leave things for our kids better than what we found them…we are not doing that - not even close.
