Witness testimony is often unreliable about small details. It wasn't like the shirts were white on one and red on the other. The descriptions matched enough that it warranted a stop and quick detainment.
If you want to act on all of your Progressive emotions and feel important resisting all of your perceived social ills, at least be a little more selective. No one can take you people seriously when everything under the sun becomes an "-ism" attack.
3ºMike Mattli Yes, it was "racial" in that the cops stopped a subject who matched the PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE SUSPECT. And they were not "wrong" for a quick detainment of a slender black guy in neon shorts when their suspect was a slender black guy in neon shorts. Once they quickly determined that the person questioned was not the suspect, he was released.

I do not need to teach my boys not to wear a hoody because a white child w a hoodie is not a threat, I do not need to teach my boys to keep their hands on the steering wheel when pulled over…. Just get your license and papers ready because they are given reasonable doubt in these circumstances… I do not need to tell my boys to watch their movements if walking down a dark street.. and now we have the karen culture being caught on social media showing the worst of racism.. in your face.. I was brought up to accept all races and sexual orientation. Catholic school education and now, I truly see all good in all religions.. whatever works to help you be a more spiritual loving being like Jesus, my friend!!! But, I just flipped the screen and a previous posting of a Florida cop clocking a white teenager at 132mph, decides to call the boys parents to come get him.. of course as a parent I would prefer my kid be handled this way and then deal with my punishment w the lesser ticket.. but you have to admit, if this young boy in Florida was black, there is a good chance that he would be hauled off to jail. No, I can’t totally think that, but the odds are there.. by the way, I know a lot of police officers and I know their concerns and it’s hard.. I’m not the mama of a black not!!! 6ºSo he matched the description of a suspect and people are upset about the cop. don’t understand why 12-year-olds have stolen cars before 12 years have shot and killed people before even shot police officers before . You saw what happened 12-year-old was in handcuffs officers was released without any other consequences. Another person who is an adult in Applebee’s confronted by an officer and decided to fight officers and became serious. This is more proof whatever your skin color is if you just listen to officers, you will not get injured in anyway. If a 12 year-old can do it, then adults can also do it.
7ºWhen detained by the police an person who is innocent of the charge would be furious about being cuffed and wrongfully detained. Anyone would be upset.
But here…. They didn’t just cuff and innocent person and wrongfully detain him. They cuffed a child and wrongfully detained a child. All the while knowing they were looking for a man. Not a little boy.
The police messed up. You don’t get to just through cuffs on the a child bc he’s wearing similar clothes to the man they were looking for.
It’s racist bs and if I were the parent I would ruin that cops life, not just by suing them, but also by ruining his charter within his community. These officers messed up really bad and they need to pay.
8ºObviously people are going to try and make this about race well I’m white and I was walking in town the one time and an officer stopped me and told me to get in the cruiser so I complied and got in the cruiser and he was just asking me questions because he hadn’t seen me around town before so I just answered the questions he was asking me and he said ok thank you have a nice day and I said the same and left no big deal the big problem with today’s day and age is that people like to argue with the police and not comply and then they get themselves into trouble if you comply with the police then you don’t have that problem it doesn’t matter what race you are if you treat the police with respect then you have nothing to worry about now are there some bad cops yes there are no question about it but 98% of cops are all good and just doing their job and mistakes are naturally going to happen as was with the case here the main thing is nobody was killed or seriously injured that’s the main thing.
9ºDamaria Keyes-Altidort in your post lies the problem itself. "Black" is not a valid description of a human being nor is "white". I proved this point at my job bartending one day after a "black/white" debate began. Myself my coworker from Porto Rico and a customer from Africa all put our arms next to each other and I asked who's black, white or Hispanic? My arm was the darkest my co-worker was the lightest and the customer was in the middle. The US census describes race by region of origin not color of skin. Our government needs to have police use discrimination based on skin tone not race or fictional colors "black or white". If police read my discrimination based on my federal ID every light skinned male with brown eyes brown hair would be detained and I would walk right by them. I don't know exactly what discrimination they were looking for here but in most cases a more accurate description would help. Like light skinned, mid light skinned, mid skinned, mid dark skinned or dark skinned male with x hair x eyes appropriately x'x" early teens xlbs. I was detained by police who were looking for a Hispanic male that fit my description. They apologized I told them not to I would rather that than the real criminal walking by them. My point is we have to keep our families safe from criminals we can't blame the police when it's their bosses our government not addressing the issue of discrimination through false descriptions like " black or white" or the assumption that every one with african ancestry is dark and everyone white is light. In reality "white" is considered northern African, South African, middle east, southern Europe, Russian as well as the northern European English setters slave owners we all associate "white people" as being. I hope I made my point to you. I do get your point but we need to address the issue from the top down not from the employees trying to serve our communities. In God we trust!!! Be blessed.
