1ºScott Price recharge time depends on battery size and capacity. For a truck it's substantially longer due the bigger batteries. Even with my gas truck, I'm topped off and at my destination while you're still sitting at a charger. When I'm pulling my bbq trailer, the last thing I want to do is add several hours for the trip. Particularly on the way home and particularly when I'm going to remote places that won't have anything to charge around the corner or possibly within the city limits.
Don't kid yourself about waiting in lines. There will be/are lines.
Your driving patterns might work with a smaller vehicle like the T3. I can't do with something that small. I need a truck. At this point, they're not even close to being up for the job.
2ºBrent Ashley so you think there gas stations everywhere right away? It’s takes 25 minutes to charge on long trips but is cheaper. I also never need to stop locally, like you do, as I can charge mine at home off hours even cheaper. How many long trips do take? I drive an hour each day each way to work. I was spending tons each week waiting in gas lines at Costco and tons of money. Now I never need to stop during the year. We take a long trip each summer for the past 3 years with our tesla3. Never an issue finding charging areas even in Montana and the Dakotas.
3ºMichael Linkowich almost no chargers where I live are free anymore. The low cost of EV depends on your situation. My apartment complex just put some in and the cost is higher than filling my current car with gas based on my miles driven. This seems to be the current upward cost trend lately. And of course people will find a way to make as much money off EV as possible as time goes on, just like anything else. People will still need to find a way to make their money as people shift off gas to EV. Streaming TV is a good example of this…it started as the cheap alternative to an expensive cable bill. Now that it’s becoming more of the norm, people’s streaming bills are starting to add up to the cost of the cable bill they previously hated.
