"China Has Agreed To Reduce, Remove Tariffs On US Cars": Donald Trump

The key point here, which the poster, FLAKincoming, apparently himself didn't notice in all his cheerleading for Trump, is found in this quote from his very own linked article:

In July, China reduced auto import duties from 25 percent to 15 percent, a boon for international carmakers keen to grow sales in the world's largest auto market. But as trade tensions ratcheted up with the US this summer, Beijing retaliated by slapping vehicles imported from the US with an extra 25 percent tariff, bringing the total tariff rate to 40 percent.

A much clearer report on the real situation, in which Trump's past policies have actually harmed U.S. auto industry sales in China to the advantage of our European and Asian competitors, can be found in a revealing and sober 10 August Wall Street Journal article entitled "U.S. Car Makers Left in the Dust as China’s Tariff Cut Boosts Europe, Japan Exports: https://disq.us/url?url=h...p;cuid=3677626" rel="nofollow noopener" title="https://www.wsj.com/article" target="_blank" class='link_art' rel='nofollow' >https://www.wsj.com/artic...wsj.com/article...

The whole tone of all Mr. FLAKIncoming's comments show a cheap partisanship and a total cheerleading, or at least complete disregard, for the danger of beginning a new "Cold War" with China. He should read and study "The Thucidites Trap" debates among high level political strategists in both the West and China.

On the rather false issue of industrial tariffs, and especially auto tariffs, he has bought the kool-aid sloganeering of Trump's publicists, which even most administration trade negotiators know is a pile of crap. Trump both misunderstands and disregards the complexity of auto industry international trade and production. China exports virtually no China brand cars to the U.S. and "manufactured in China" cars and trucks [a different tariff category] as well as "manufactured in the U.S." auto parts (e.g. German engines) are critical components of Western company cars made in China and all over the world.

None of this is to argue that China does not represent a major challenge on many levels. Any close observer of China, even any careful reader of reports by Western experts on China, understands this question far better than Trump himself. There has been a growing consensus in both parties and among serious China watchers that "more" must be done. But Trump's idiotic rhetoric, thoughtless policies disrupting Western economic & political alliances, periodic attempts at bullying friends and enemies alike, embrace of murdering dictators, have almost all been reckless and feckless. Trump's demagoguery and posturing over the long run are likely to prove counter-productive and dangerous in the extreme, and ever more divisive to our domestic and international security.

P.S. Please don't assume this is an endorsement of passivity or accepting a neo-liberal status quo.

"No one can say for sure what Trump and Xi just agreed to"

However, no one can seem to say what, exactly, Trump and Xi agreed to.

Statements from each country are contradictory about fundamental issues and offer no specifics about what might happen next. Given the fact that the history of US trade negotiations with China is defined by China agreeing to radical changes and then failing to actually make those changes, the Trump team’s positive spin has been summed up by trade experts as “magical thinking.”

Oh, and lets' remember that this is the same WH that signed a bogus deal with N Korea to start world piece.
the Trump WH hardly does it's homework.

There is, of course, a major weakness of your argument. Read non-US news sources and they can't find five positive points about the USMCA.
Trump has conveniently played down the concessions he made in exchange: In return for greater American access to the Canadian dairy, poultry and egg markets, we gave Canada greater access to U.S. markets for dairy, peanuts, processed peanut products, sugar and sugar-containing products.
But for the most part, despite Trump’s assertion that “it’s not NAFTA redone, it’s a brand-new deal,” the president mostly kept NAFTA intact.
What’s more, some of the more significant changes — relating to issues such as labor standards, environmental protections and e-commerce — appear to be cribbed from another trade deal that Trump has demonized: the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Who says it is the truth? YOU? I would shrink from so blatantly and openly admitting my stupidity for all to see. Time and time again they are proved wrong by factual investigative journalism, but as you don't read that, have no facts in your head to test these so-called "truths" for their veracity, how can you even presume to make that judgement call? You can't and that's the very point.

Without cross-checking for ALL of the facts, you are bound to do exactly what you do in fact do - make judgement calls based on a fabrication.

If I tell a blind man that he is giving me a $50 dollar bill in payment, when he has mistakenly taken from his wallet a $100 bill, should he believe me? I have a vested interest in lying to him. You are the blind man. An intelligent blind man would CHECK someone else's account.

When it is released pre Trump speech? You must think the folks at RT are clairvoyant? Trump has averted two wars? HA. All he started was a trade war, which is according to Trump, 'easy to win', that is why the U.S. farmers need 16 billion in bailouts? Winning! ROK doesn't need to fire (long range) rockets they are to the point of 'active service'.
You mean the test site at Punggye-ri? It imploded from the last six tests there. You are telling me they dismantled it? More likely they took anything usable from it, for use elsewhere. You are really funny with your Trump wool MAGA cap pulled over your eyes all the way over there in South Eastern Australia.

Of course it has. We have the tit-for-tat tariff war now ended. We have the 40% tariffs on U.S. cars and a variety of other goods exported to China also abolished.

We have an increase in exports to China in agricultural, dairy and some manufacturing products, without crippling tariffs. This is all intertwined with the USMC Trade deal. You can't look at both deals separately. One supports the other.

The USMC prohibits manufacturers from importing car parts which have been produced in labour sweat shops. These have predominantly come from China. Now many will be made in America. More factories, more jobs.

Put the two deals together and China has been brought to heel. The powers in the market place, orchestrated by the globalist cartels who previously drafted past trade Agreements and who have therefore been running the show, are also beginning to be brought to heel.

There is still a lot more to do and many more products and trading sectors to WIN yet, but to deny this is a win at all, is petulant political pouting by vested interests in the MSM and the infantile leftosphere.

The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been determined must take place. 37 He will show no regard for the gods of his ancestors or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all. 38 Instead of them, he will honor a god of fortresses; a god unknown to his ancestors he will honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and costly gifts. 39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price.[d]

I just told you. Trump doesn't "constantly spread false information via twitter". That's what evil control freaks who control the MSM narrative WANT you to believe.

North Korea HAS agreed to denuclearize. It signed a written Agreement attesting to that.

Below is that Agreement signed by both Kim Jong and President Trump: Please note Clause 3. which refers to the Panmunjom Declaration made publicly on 27th April, 2018 with the South Korean leader, now incorporated in this Agreement and thereby its commitment now in writing and SIGNED to, through its inclusion in this Agreement.

Oh, I realize the lying MSM never pointed that out to you. Are you getting this? How Trump is the only one telling the truth here? If you do not cross-check everything the lying MSM says about Trump, then they will make you look like idiots every time.

Trump snubbed Putin at the G20 and raised Russia's sanctions in response to the Ukraine incident. Russia's economy will go the same way as China's if it doesn't start behaving itself, be reduced further on the world stage.

There is more to all of this than just a trade war or a territorial battle. It is a battle against globalism and Putin and Trump and the Saudi Prince all agree on that and have that in common - are anti-globalisation, but at the same time, the three want economic dominance, as does China.

It is a complex game and you can't put very superficial interpretations upon these events. There is so much we don't know that they do.

Speak for yourself. You are making it up as you go along. Wrong, wrong, wrong. We fully appreciate that in tweeting the news, President Trump forces the MSM to report on events which they would otherwise seek to keep quiet. It compels them to report on them, even if they do skew the facts, but at least it throws that news into the public square for debate. We love his tweets for that reason. Get it right.

We RELY on President Trump's tweets to get the REAL news. All conservatives appreciate that it is his way of bypassing the fake news and making sure we know what is REALLY happening and not what the fake news Ministry of Propaganda would have us believe.

President Trump's Twitter following was one of the largest in America until Twitter started shadow banning him and doctoring the numbers, after they realised just how many he had and their influence. Liars, liars, cheaters and deceivers. Evil people.
