My very small town has a tanker truck that they can go to any lake or idk the Pacific Ocean and pump water to fight a fire.
We also have trucks that have pumps built into them. That water sitting in the pipe doesn’t go anywhere when the powers off. You hook the truck to the fire hydrant with their gas powered pump and pump the water.
We also have gas powered back up generators at the pumping stations.
There’s also areas like mine where I live at the bottom of the hill. The town well is at the top of the hill. There is no pumps because water flows down hill.
It sounds like city workers were really unprepared. Like don’t they get storms all the time in hurricane season? Are you really saying there’s no gas generators or fire trucks with pumps?
2ºMakes you wonder about the aelrt systems, sorta like HDTV and its failures of reeption in some areas, and what part of the emergency brodcast system failed.. You know that system that is suppose to iform people of dangers ??? Should all computers and such like streaming and more be more proactive as to alerts and such.. Should telivision station have a right to charge cable companies a fee and yet get paid by goverment to have such a system that really does no good unless you can get reception and such.. Do to telivision stations wanting paid for providing people with local channels and not of any real service to the people should we disban and defund the emergeny system of local telivision stations and concentrait on cell phones, cable networks-internet to come up with good alerts and when such alerts are for a local area(s) that each system as to wifi and all can even tap the radio waves of tv, radio and such as part of a emergency system-plan using wifi, cell phone towers and such and even overide HDTV for notice ?? Go figure,, How will you be alerted, do you even have good reception ( a FCC failure) and more ??? Think about it just a little.
