Biden vows enduring federal response to Idalia and Maui fires -- and sends a warning to GOP

President Biden pledged enduring support for Americans affected by Hurricane Idalia and the Hawaii wildfires while making clear he’s ready to blame congressional Republicans if there isn’t enough funding for the response to a confluence of natural disasters.

If “ you claim he’s not to blame , because Congress controls the money”, why has he twice already gone against the Congress, AND the Supreme Court, exercising his “ power of Executive Order” to insist on canceling student debt??
And in today’s news, he is really drawing lots of criticism for wanting to “ pass HIS law” to cancel the debts of students who attended a certain PRIVATE university???? Where does that leave those with student loans, but couldn’t afford “ private colleges”???
In this case, he certainly didn’t go by what “ Congress passed”, as you suggest.
Sounds like exercising “ Executive Power” for the purpose of buying votes…

News flash, gop has a history of blocking disaster funding. Biden is absolutely right. They have a lot of nerve criticizing the response to the Maui fire. Every resource was deployed. I didn’t hear those republicans criticize trump when he actually withheld aid for Puerto Rico because of his petty vindictiveness towards the mayor. The only gracious republican governor I can recall during a hurricane was Christie. He caught a lot of flack from his fellow republicans because he had the audacity to praise Obama’s disaster response. Republicans are the do nothing party who like to criticize the party that actually gets things done. Biden’s infrastructure bill will be paying to shore up Maui power grid

Sadly, recovery takes far longer than most who are new to disasters expect. And the promises of federal aid is much more involved and serpentine than it appears when federal talking heads throw out such assurances to the press. Post IAN Hurricane Disaster, for example, one such Disaster Loan Application has just been approved following countless denials, requests for information sent earlier, multiple hand offs to uninformed Agents, etc etc. Another such application is in Re-review and still pending after being Denied due to government misunderstanding and confusion. Sadly, their ordeals are just beginning! And the recovery rebuilding process frustrating, long, serpentine and absolutely ridiculous. The process of recovery and rebuilding should be much more streamlined, logical, predictable and user friendly than it is! And Disaster support much easier to obtain and receive!
