9-to-5: A history of the eight-hour workday

Why do we work 9 to 5? How the US landed on the eight-hour standard wasn’t the result of one union or one industry, one company or one law.

It would be far better to work 12 hour shifts four days a week and then three days the next week. With hour lunch breaks.

44 hours one week with four hours time and a half one week with three days off.

Fallowing week 33 hours with four days off. The 4 extra hours with time and a half the previous week makes it like working 39 hours that week for pay.

The extra time spent at work makes up for the time employees are settling in during the morning or gathering things at the end of the day and are not focused on work.

Four days off is enough to really have fun.
