2ºSteve Gluck why should Democrats vote for the Republican speaker? Do you actually believe that if the perverbial shoe was on the other foot Republicans would be seeking to help out Democrats? The only way Democrats should help Republicans is if all Maga members are removed from Committee assignments, Goggins, MTG , Jordan, Cromer and Boebert are Censured for there part in facilitating Jan. 6. Any investigation lead by Republicans over 3 years old, have all documents and sources shared with Democrats and released to the public, and every member publicly state and sign a letter to the American people that the election was a free and fair election, nominate the democrats dictated choice for speaker. Otherwise they can lay in the bed they've made and lose control of the house. At this point they will be down 30 seats by 2025.
3ºI am just stunned at how little CNN”s news casters know about how our system is supposed to work. When Thomas Jefferson first started the Democratic Party, he talked about how elected officials should use their own individual judgement rather than voting by a party line. Throughout history, that’s been a problem to maintain, but it does happen pretty regularly (you can read all about it in the book “Profiles in Courage” and there have been many times where members have forced changes by supporting a nominee from the other party (read about the Speakership of Joe Cannon for the most dramatic example) and yet I watch CNN”s coverage and there is literally no discussion about individual Democrats voting for a moderate Republican, even though several have said they are considering it. By covering the story this way, they are creating the story rather than reporting it. JMO!
4ºThe Democrats are in the same position as when McCarthy was elected. They could have picked any Republican they wanted to be the next Speaker of the House. All they would have needed was a few Republicans to go along with their choice. Now, it’s the same thing. They can pick any Republican they want to become the next Speaker. 8ºListened to Brianna’s interview with rep Austin Scott where he blamed the speakership vacancy on the 208 Democrats who voted against McCarthy and how he tried to spin the 208 as the majority who voted against McCarthy. He refused to acknowledge that the small faction of Republicans (Matt Gaetz ringleader) was the reason McCarthy did not get the majority since republicans are in the majority.
The only question I wish had been asked was…if the roles were reversed and a democrat was the speaker being voted on to vacate…how many republicans would vote for a democratic speaker to retain the speakership I would have lived to hear the spin on that one. Great job Brianna.. he was a little confused about who needed to provide McCarthy the majority.

10ºIsrael is blaming the hospital blast on a failed rocket launch by Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), MSNBC foreign correspondent Raf Sanchez quickly pointed out that PIJ rockets don’t tend to do that kind of damage, but Israeli missiles do.
He also noted that Israel has an extensive history of lying about this sort of thing.
And we should say finally that there are instances in the past where the Israeli military has said things in the immediate aftermath of an incident that have turned out not to be true in the long run,” Sanchez added. “And the one example I’ll give you is that when the Al Jazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, was killed in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli military initially said that she was killed by Palestinian gunmen, and it was only months and months later that they admitted that it was likely an Israeli soldier who fired the fatal shot.”
CNN’s Clarissa Ward said essentially the same thing.
“I will say, just based on seeing these rocket attacks many times over the years, that they don’t usually have an impact like that in terms of the size of the blast, in terms of the scale of the death toll and the scale of the damage,” Ward said. “It’s also not the first time, it’s important to add, that we have seen the IDF categorically deny something before being forced to kind of do an about-face after an extensive investigation.”
