They recall how their oppressors were cast as victims facing an onslaught by 'murderous savages,' who allegedly wanted to push all white South Africans into the sea. When they hear Israel being hailed as the 'most stable democracy in the Middle East,' they are reminded of how Western leaders hailed apartheid South Africa as the 'last bastion of freedom and the last bulwark against communism in Africa.'
