1ºI dislike “Hate.” My father taught me a very valuable lesson: “We do not ‘hate;’ we may dislike, but we do not ‘hate.’” Think about it. As Maya Angelou said: “Hate has cause a lot of problems but it has yet to solve any.”
I may not fully understand the Israeli/Palestinian “Conflict” but I think I understand it enough to express the below. Both sides are guilty of abuses. I’m not writing this to debate who started it, who has the better right, whose abuses are worse etc. Engaging in that will NOT, IMHO, help resolve the “Conflict.” For days, if not weeks, that is all I’ve seen on the Internet: “it’s our land” “they started it” “they abuse is worse than anything we did” etc., etc. I’d rather see efforts at truly resolving this once and for all.
To me the “conflict” is a bit more complicated that 2 sides. First, I believe that there is a true Majority out there on both sides that truly want Peace and peaceful coexistence. Second, there is a sort of “cog” in that wheel/goal of Peace and peaceful coexistence; “hate” and groups like Hamas whose only goal really is the annihilation of Israel and/or Jews. That annihilation is in the Charter for Hamas and I believe in the charter for other groups like the PLO etc.
Thus, if we truly want Peace and peaceful coexistence, we need to find a way to raise and strengthen the voices of what I believe are the true majorities of both groups whose goal is Peace and peaceful coexistence; we need to work to drown out and/or eliminate the “hate” that exists in Hamas and other hate oriented groups. Until then, we will have civilians and innocents on both sides being killed/murdered. Isn’t peace and peaceful coexistence preferable to “hate” and “violence?” How has the world benefitted by all the violence in the past several hundred years?
2ºTommy Diacono Please accept this in the spirit with which it said because we really want to reach a solution. Palestinians have no choice but to stay where they are. First, they are surrounded by poor countries who can't afford to let them in. Plus, they know that if they leave their land will be taken from them for ever. On the contrary, placing settlers in o ccupied land while displacing land owners need to be stopped. Until this happens, no one really can consider settlers as innocent civilians: they are taking someone's else home and using themselves and families as human shields. Plus, is it fair to consider a member of the army as a civilian?
All members of the Israeli society above 18 are subject to mandatory military service and are called regularly for training. So they are not strict civilians: they are unarmed members of the army. When Sheikh Yasseen was killed, he was unarmed, but certainly you couldn't him a civilian...But, let's be honest: I am a parent...Certainly, I wouldn't like my son/daughter's life to be lost even if they were members of the army. Peace is a worthy, precious goal. Israel is not a large community...It's strange that military service is mandatory for all men and women. I guess it's because they don't feel safe. End the occupation, stop all forms of oppression--Please, see HRW report "Threshold crossed" issued in 2021)...Only then you'll be able to feel safe. Only then you can find peace. 3ºAmy Hatts they are clearly not evacuating. I was looking today at where they bombed in the North and there are thousands of people still there. One would think it would be a ghost town. It makes no sense to me.
The army is even calling people, dropping leaflets... First time ever I see a army do this. In my country they don't care, they will just bomb without any warning.
Like I say, this is not about land or occupation non occupation... Who cares. Just evacuate and fights later about land if you think that's the agenda. Isn't one's life and safety more important?

When peace becomes dependent on the agendas of the powers of arrogance and global colonialism that burn the green and the dry and kill the young and the old, it cannot be considered a desired peace because it is built on the corpses of children, women and innocents people, and the rubble of their homes.
