2ºI work in financial crimes investigations and have worked a couple pig butchering cases and can tell you it's a major problem right now. Even for the scammers who contact the victims. These people are basically victims of human trafficking by criminal groups in Myanmar. Some of the buildings that house the scammers have actually erected suicide barriers due to a few of their captives jumping to their deaths from windows. The ones running the scams don't even try to hide it either. You can see them cruising around in luxury cars and flaunting their wealth in public. From what I've seen, a lot of these criminal groups like to use MSBs like Epay and PingPong to route payments from victims to money mules and so on. Also, many of the victims are elderly types so there's the elder abuse angle as well.
