Angela Wolski none of us know what really went down, and why Biden decided to release his DOJ on Trump in a fashion never before seen.. The only reasonable and logical explanation is Trumps political opponents are afraid of him.. Jan 6th and the days before trump sends out tweets saying go protest peaceful and go home after people breached the capital doors.. yet he's getting charged with crimes his haters took over two years dream up.. in the trial in New York were he's being charged with inflating the value of his assets, even the banks said he didnt nothing wrong and there was no victim.. The truth is if you support what they're doing to him, then you support there corruption, ignorance, and power hungry mentality that will cripple a country and for the most part already is.. They attacked Americas energy supply when they shut down the Keystone pipeline on day one of Bidens presidency and didn't have a reasonable alternative ready to replace it. Americas border wide open, terrorists on the terror watch list caught entering our country laughing at border patrol agents telling them our brothers are already among you, that didn't happen under Trump.. A terror attack on American soil is not considered imminent by by Democrats and Republicans in Congress.. but you dont see that because the politicians, educational institutions, and media outlets you support dont show and tell you that.. I wonder why because they are all bought and paid for by the people you support in the name of power and money.. And you're right I should stop because I'm wasting my time trying to educate someone that's so far gone and hate driven for one man, that its pointless...

It was pretty clear until the lawyers got involved. How could any President not be held accountable to the same Constitutional standard of conduct as any other elected official. Why would anyone who deliberately encouraged or participated in an unlawful attempt to overthrow the government be allowed to be a member of that governing body in any country? There is a lawful way to change what you don't like about the government. You break that law, you deliberately interfere with our election process and out you go. Trump is fortunate he's in the US. In other countries, the consequence is much more immediate and final.

Angela Wolski You're all insanely nuts is what you typed.. Allow me to prove that you are thee misinformed crazy person here.. Only the current president at that time has thee authority to declassify documents.. Trump had his documents in a safe at his residence. Joe Biden had them in the garage at his. A safe seems alot more secure than a garage. According to the visitor log obtained from the Biden residence, there were multiple people from countries considered to be adversaries of the U.S.A. that easily had access to those documents.. Joe Biden as a senator was not permitted to take them from the scif but he did.. Donald Trump under the law was allowed to take any documents he wanted as long as the were declassified, just like every president before him has done.. Donald Trump was in negotiations to give some to the national archives when his residence was raided. They said he wasn't moving fast enough, but Meanwhile it took Bill Clinton into Obamas 2nd term until he surrendered his.. Very clearly based on that alone, the application of the law isnt being applied equally.. Donald Trump has said during an interview that he never discussed anything from those documents with anyone because that would jeopardize national security.. So to your remark of he would share that information with anyone who would listen, I highly doubt that, he knew that it was a crime punishable with prison, and for as many haters as he has, he knew it would only be a matter of time until any shared information would be made known to the public, which it hasn't.. Biden gave back documents he had for 30-40 years, and only after he was being investigated for it.. That's all facts, nothing you can say, or any words you can twist, wont change that.. You can call people crazy and have a fit because you dont like it, but just because you're a Trump hater and that's the cool thing to be in the progressive liberal world, doesn't make you correct.. It makes you an obsessed person with seeing one mans downfall, all the hoping, crying, wishing, and begging for Trump to be stopped before the 2024 election makes you crazy.. You are a product of the educational institutions and mainstream media machines that has indoctrinated people to ignore facts and logic in the pursuit of false justice against a man who is hated and feared by his political opponents because he took their power once, and has the support to do it again. Without their power they lose millions to billions of dollars.. it not about democracy to them, it's about their power and financial gain.. they dont care about you and you support them.. if they did care the southern border wouldnt be still wide open after the announcement that another terror attack on American soil is inevitable.. they want to flood this country with people who will vote for THEM, ignoring everyones safety.. Millions of Americans are opening their eyes to what's really happening, even CNN has recently started opening their eyes and changing their views on some stuff.. what's it gonna take for you to stop being such a mentally corrupted and influenced hater and do the same..

Frank Belluardo no, I care about accountability and justice. When democratic lawmakers break the law and I am for them being held accountable just as I am when republican politicians break the law.

Personally, I don’t think that Trump is fit for the office and his actions before, during, and after his term as president should disqualify him from office, but I also know that for some reason the party of “morality” and “law and order” seems very willing to overlook those values in relation to Trump.

Again, I’m curious to see what SCOTUS does and how they justify either overturning Colorado and forcing Trump onto the ballot or if they uphold a plain reading of the 14th and federalism in relation to election laws. But I’m not gunna cry tears of joy or sorrow either way

Maggie Blyth No ma’am I am not gullible. I know that he doesn’t have the support to overturn the government and take over the country. You’re giving him too much credit and assuming that he has more power than he actually does/did. That weak example wasn’t strong enough to even be a decent riot let alone an “insurrection”. Those people weren’t even armed. Had they been armed and even attempted a coup/insurrection the military would have crushed it before the sun had set. Trump has actually LOST support since 2020. The only people keeping him relevant is CNN and the democratic voter base who want to talk about him 24/7.

Matthew Halm, Section 3 adjudications against former Confederates were rare in the aftermath of the Civil War. That is because it was widely understood that former Confederates who took an oath to support the Constitution before the Civil War were disqualified under Section 3 and therefore many likely did not seek office in the first place. In fact, ex-Confederates flooded Congress with thousands of amnesty requests to “remove” their Section 3 disqualification, demonstrating that they understood themselves to be disqualified even without a formal adjudication. Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability as laid out in the Amendment.

Virginia Claus the primaries are states. The general election is federal. It will take the supreme Court to remove trump from the ballot federally. That ain't gonna happen. I know lefties are scared to death because they have a fool in the white house and an idiot vice president. They know trump can beat them so they are trying to use courts to get rid of him. Just like they did with the Russia collusion thing and the two sham impeachments that failed. Why won't Democrats go out and publicly state and tout their policies? Win on the issues.....they can't because most Americans don't like Democrat policies. They want to eliminate competition by using a corrupt bunch of leftist judges on leftist courts that rule based on political leanings rather than the law.

Debbie Wallace Evans surprisingly I just read what other constitutional lawyers say like the Colorado justices in their opinion. I also pay attention to news that explains constitutional issues instead of just yelling about it during entertainment blocks in the evening.

That’s how the world works. I can also explain how to fix parts of my car because I listen to mechanics and understand how computer applications and hardware work from listening to computer techs.

It’s 2023 and we don’t have to be an expert in everything to know about issues, just have to have good resources and the ability to think :)

This is what was expected and is part of compelling the Supreme Court to decide if the 14th Amendment applies to sitting Presidents. No one should be particularly disappointed with the outcome. With at least two states in direct conflict over the 14th Amendment, that throws the ball to the Supremes. What we should watch for next is how they handle this hot potato because either way they go is fraught with consequences. Either they uphold the 14th as it is written to apply to all elected officials OR they give President Biden unlimited exemption from the law. Seems to me that he could take other actions to make sure that his enemies go away if the Supremes have no authority over him.

10ºCarole Burbo I think there are more things than Trump saying “March peacefully” at play here and those actions and statements are references in the Colorado rulings and complaints by those who petitioned other courts.

That aside, it’ll end up being an interesting question for the Supreme Court to decide if a) indictment and conviction are even necessary considering a plain reading doesn’t indicate that and the history of other people being prohibited from office after the civil war without convictions and b) how they apply federalism and states rights to issues that the states have powers to control like elections. There are other times where federal rules can force states to change election rules but typically it is just equal protections rulings applying to race and ethnicity of voters, representation, funding, etc.
