4ºKeith Farhall it’s obvious YOU don’t get it…they do not let in people who don’t meet the legally prescribed qualifications to request asylum. Those are NOT illegal immigrants, they are LEGAL under our current law. Same problem as is repeated by every other person who doesn’t have a real answer…you and they do not comprehend the difference between needing resources to help manage the number of people presenting at the border who have a right under US law to enter, and needing money to apprehend those who get held up in that backlog and head a few mile away to cross illegally. Dems would LOVE to get it under control. I think right leaning law makers would rather not find a way to fix the problem so they can keep their voters riled up.
5ºDave Donaldson oh, and here is one more consideration about your hatred for “illegals”. 40% of farm workers are undocumented workers…where are you going to get your food when they are all rounded up and deported? How much will that food go up in price if nearly half the workforce suddenly disappears and wages for farm workers skyrocket to try and attract replacements? I am not saying that it is good that there are so many undocumented workers, just pointing out that they are literally largely responsible for feeding us, so we had better find a way to keep them in the workforce.

8ºNapoleon Smith III I have read a paper, I have also read the actual law that requires admissibility based on asylum requests. Literally no one walks up to a border crossing without a passport/visa allowing entry OR without an asylum claim of some sort and is let in. IF they have an asylum claim that meets the standards they are required by law to be allowed in then must attend a preliminary hearing. After that hearing, if their claim holds up they are permitted to enter and scheduled for future follow up trials. 83% of those permitted in AS REQUIRED BY US LAW do the right thing and attend the required hearings. 40% of those people have been found to have a legitimate claim and allowed to stay, with a work permit, where they then join our workforce and pay taxes just like citizens do. The rest are deported. These are facts that you can look up.

9ºTracy Marshall the bills I read about do include money to take care of migrants and adjudicate their asylum requests faster, but they have big chunks of money simpl designed to increase patrols prevent illegal crossings. Again, they could bring them up for modifications. Besides, if all the dems wanted was more money to help migrants why would they have moved so many existing CBP agents to the border? They reassigned hundreds of agents. The existing law requires we allow people with asylum requests into the country until they can be fully heard by an immigration hearing, so obviously it takes money to comply with that law, but the bills ask for more personnel and equipment too. No, again, if someone just didnt like how the money would be used they would amend the bill and compromise to get something passed!
