Airfare hasn’t been this cheap since 2009 | CNN

If you’re searching for a silver lining, look to the clouds. While the cost of living is spiraling, the price of plane tickets is at a 15-year low – in the United States, at least.

Nancy Frost Depends on which price structure you agree to. The more you pay for your ticket, the more they include. Buy the cheap tickets and you get feed for everything such as seat selection, baggage, sometimes carry-on bag costs more, etc. I purchased a ticket that included seat selection, however, the "system was down" and I was instructed to call the carrier. I called and was told there was a $50 fee for them to select my seat - this fee applied to each leg of my trip, so an extra $200. Baggage fees have doubled in a year. The fees often cost more than the ticket.
