She's a great offensive player that came along at just the right time. She can score AND make a lot of money (more than some present NBA rookies) before she goes to the WNBA. Good for her. Her next step into professional basketball will truly prove her. She's going to be playing other college scholarship players that can actually play defense. The bad nights and the good nights will probably equal out and scoring records aren't quite as easy to come by.

If they weren’t different, they would be playing together. The women’s ball is smaller, but the rim diameter is the same as men’s. That’s just one difference in the rules between the two sports. She’s also not playing with men guarding her. I’m impressed by her play, and it’s great for women’s college basketball, but picking and choosing which records we’re going to combine makes no sense, in fact it isn’t fair to women in most cases. When a man breaks the women’s record, we don’t say anything about it. Congrats on the women’s record, and for your outstanding play in general.
3ºJessica McDonald I played, and these are two different sports. We used to scrimmage against the women’s team to help them get better, but we played by certain rules, and didn’t dunk, etc. We never pretended that men’s and women’s college basketball were the same sport. If they were, we wouldn’t need separate teams. Women are eligible to play for the men’s team, but I’ve never seen one who could make the team. If you want to take that as criticism, have at it. These are gifted athletes, and most women couldn’t make the women’s team, just like most men couldn’t make the men’s team. It doesn’t make sense to try and mix the records of two different sports. In most cases, it isn’t fair to women. It’s an academic discussion, it’s not something to be defensive about. It certainly isn’t a criticism of the player, it’s a criticism of the comparison. The two sports use different rules, and not just different size balls.
