Israeli woman held hostage by Hamas speaks out on her abduction and sexual assault in Gaza

Amit Soussana has become the first Israeli woman to speak publicly about enduring what she says was a sexual assault and other forms of violence during her 55 days in captivity following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, according to reporting by The New York Times.

Sonu Rajbhandari Hi, Sonu, just want to say as a journalist that the New York Times, which researched and wrote the original story that CNN refers to, had to do a lot of research and vetting before they could publish this. They had been working on background a very long time, since after some of the hostages were released. They had to get permission to review the medical records and speak with the medics (UN, Red Cross, Israeli doctors) who interviewed and treated her after she was returned. They had to collect and examine videos, photos and texts from many sources. And of course it all depended on the subject's willingness to be interviewed on the record as well. So the fact that CNN hasn't done a story about IDF's treatment of women in Gaza doesn't mean they won't; just that it takes time and work. The war has created so much division and hatred that you can easily imagine how a story such as this would be attacked by many people (just look at the comments in this thread!), so the vetting must be intense to satisfy editors and lawyers that they've got it right. For all we know reporters could be working on the story you would like to see right now,. If they are, you should want it to be as thorough, reliable and detailed as the NYT one is The process of journalism isn't as simple as many people think.

Melvyn DeLisle I really do enjoy having this conversation with you but you continue to put words in my mouth. I never once stated it started with Oct. 7. I will however say that Hamas attack on that day surely didn't help or benefit the Palestinians at all. Now, I don't know how it will pan out in the future it could be one of those incidents that test the resolve between Israel and the USA. I doubt that bond will be broken in the near future but it's for sure strained. Netanyahu is complete garbage, and he should have been in prison a long time ago even more than half of Israelis will agree with that it's the Likud party that keeps him in power they even have the people of Israel hostage. He's a dictator for sure it's been proven and even written about by Israeli. As for Slavery yes, I do blame the African wars on Slavery as a matter of fact. To be more specific I blame the Muslims who swapped into Norhtern Africa in the 7th century and enslaved those who wouldn't convert. Who also taught the European how to enslave the African in the 15th Century when the Europeans defeated the Moors in Spain and Portugal in 1492. As for Custer he's to blame for his own death for not knowing who the Natives were at the time. Nor did he understand the environment that he was in at the time.

Steph Raines

You are so wrong.
Over and over again the focus is on the suffering of the Gazans.
Is it so hard for you to acknowledge the sufferings of others in this war?
Would you like the media to ignore this interview and the monsterous behavior described here?
Any human being should condemn acts of rapes and sexual assaults ! It is not acctable under any circumstances. You don't have to like Israelis or Jews to condenn such a barbaric behavior. All it takes is to be a human being and support exposing to the public such a behavior.

Justin Denning, just like many claims by IDF, like beheading of babies, mass rapings, etc., lacking evidence. I and most of the world now take all Israeli claims with a grain of salt given their record.
We will find out more in the future.
I imagine during such a conflict there are possibly sexual violations and assaults from both sides, unless you think IDF are saints.
The western media likes to only expose one sided allegations, because they do not want to talk about the decades of atrocities by Israeli zionist colonial government way before Hamas and oct 7th, and the ongoing messacre of innocent Palestinian civilians, women and children/babies!

Patricia Borns Nice to meet you. People just comment with their dumb logic & I enjoy destroying them sarcastically. I really respect journalists. Journalism is a very difficult & risky job.I know that. I don't have a problem with a reporter or journalist. They are doing their job & they are trying hard to bring the truth out for us. But they are not the one who decides what & how information is delivered to the audience. I have a direct problem with the media the boss who decides how, what & when information flows to control people's perspectives, divert their attention from certain matters, and creating mass support for certain groups or people. And I know journalists aren't allowed to enter Gaza. Freedom of press has been suppressed by Israel I know that.

Melvyn DeLisle You forgot to add The Sykes–Picot Agreement was a 1916. I'm well aware of Balfour.. I'm well aware of the Zionist conference of 1897. I'm well aware of the British role and reason why they decided to create a Jewish state in Palestine and also how, why and when the leaders of the newly formed state of Israel turned on the British and started killing them in order to push them out of the land so that they could gain more control. You shouldn't assume that others don't know the history of the region. I'm also aware of all the mis-steps by the Palestinian people have made also and continue to make til this very day.

Scally Cowell I truly get it. Hamas is the brutal response to IDF's brutality. But that brutality has been deployed by Hamas as well against Israeli civilians. Actually, there are conflicting reports on how certain Hamas members actually kept themselves from killing civilians while others brutally did so.
Basically, I am not sure what to make of Hamas. But because there are pieces of evidence of their evil actions... Then I have to put them on the same level as the IDF.
IDF simply has done more destruction and killings than Hamas ever has. However, I don't condone any army or organization that has been proven guilty of killing civilians especially CHILDREN.

Steph Raines 30,000 innocent Palestinians have died by the IDF... so... no Hamas and other islamic jihadists terrorists have died, at all? And no Palestinian was killed by Hamas' few thousands of misfired rockets which were aimed at Israeli cities but exploded within the Gaza strip? And non were killed by Hamas massive shootings at Gazans who were trying to evacuate to safties and were prevented to do so, nor by the terrorists shootings at people who approached aid trucks?
Citing numbers provided by *Hamas* is irresponsible and shows a strong bias in your (lack of) understanding of this war and conflict.

Lewis Powell So how does those “mis steps” equate to a genocide and holocaust at them? It seems you are missing some of the puzzle. The only thing the Palestinians did was they dropped the ball on organizing and galvanizing solidarity. But the “Jewish” problem was one created by the European and American political forces that had Palestine targeted as a place to send them and that was LONG before the German thing. Europe and America didn’t want the Jews same as the Germans. But they suffered from the Zionists greed for land and used the holocaust as an excuse to play the victim. Read “The 100 year war on Palestine” by Rashid Khalidi. You have some perspective missing

10ºGod bless the people affected by the horrific atrocities committed by Hamas and their UN accomplices. And for all the people whining about a cease fire, get pissed at Hamas not us. They are the ones continuing this conflict by refusing to RELEASE THE HOSTAGES. I mean the one thing that would get the ceasefire everybody wants is to RELEASE THE HOSTAGES RELEASE THE HOSTAGES RELEASE THE HOSTAGES RELEASE THE HOSTAGES RELEASE THE HOSTAGES RELEASE THE HOSTAGES. But you people don't want to hear that. Oh and if you brain dead libturds out there need help figuring out who the bad guys and good guys are....the good guys NEVER TAKE HOSTAGES!!!!!
