3ºAtrocities GENERALLY speaking, don’t work and here’s why…
1. The force you’re fighting against realizes that surrender is no longer an option, so they are going to literally “fight to the death”, preferring being KIA instead of capture and torture. You can assume they are going to try to take as many of you as they can when the die.
2. It causes PROFOUND hate for the force committing the atrocities and there is a distinct possibility that those forces that use atrocities will have atrocities committed against them if they are captured. Using atrocities against innocent civilians to compel guerrilla forces to stop typically backfires, simply compounds the hate, and motivates them to seek revenge.
3. People who do things like this (starting it, not in retribution/attempt to extract information) are typically sadists and cowards. Their weakness is they typically are unwilling to sacrifice themselves to further a cause.
