Where are we now, after Eclipse,
after this strong union of flesh,
after our hearts have written scripts
and tales as grand as Gilgamesh.
Where are we now, upon egress,
after the moon has slipped away,
after a sudden dark abscess
has healed upon the sun’s causeway.
Where are we now, in pure sunlight,
after this bath of cold shadows,
after a moment of strange night
that drowns us in man’s petty woes.
What are we left with on this day,
