Nike’s US women’s Olympic team outfits criticized for being ‘born of patriarchal forces’ | CNN

“This is not an elite athletic kit for track and field. This is a costume born of patriarchal forces that are no longer welcome or needed to get eyes on women’s sports," former US track and field athlete Lauren Fleshman wrote in an Instagram post.

Did you read the article? No one is forcing anyone to wear this. The women actually have way more choices than the men. They can also choose the same styles as men. Many of them prefer this style for running. How is giving women the same choices as men in addition to more choices than men patriarchy? This is the problem with these articles. They know you will get outraged at nonexistent sexism if they put a misleading title and you will click on it making them money from advertisers. Grow up. Or at least don’t speak on things you haven’t even read.

So much privilege people have to invent problems so they can be a victim. No one who will actually be wearing an Olympic uniform is complaining. Just a bunch of idiots on the internet who don’t work out and fall for clickbait because they’re too self righteous to be troubled to actually read about something before showing how social justice they are. Lot of self proclaimed dumbasses in these comments

Steve Cutler not a liberal! Nor a conservative. I just find the old meme “love it or leave it” silly. Criticism is not unpatriotic. It’s a phrase used when people can’t handle differences of opinion. What makes this country work is when we engage in debate earnestly, not demanding those we disagree with leave. And since we have a secret ballot, no one will know who I vote for, not even my wife! Have the courage to engage in dialogue rather than demanding that others leave. You’d be surprised at what might result. As to the uniforms, I’ll leave it to the women athletes to voice their opinions.

Heather Winrich I think having other options to choose from so that you don’t have to wear the big bad scary one you’re so afraid of is very okay.

If there are other athletes that want to wear it, why remove it from the line up?

Or are you just saying that the one option that has you up in arms just simply offends you? Or are you just trying to limit options for others that may like it.

If you don’t like it,, don’t wear it. Pick another one. I highly doubt this one option is going to serve you death.

Sylvain Guinepain many women athletes have been saying over the years that women should be able to wear nearly the same thing as men. For example, sand volleyball. Do you see men wear skimpy short shorts? No? That's because they have a set uniform. Versus the women, who have to wear basically very skimpy bikinis as that is their uniforms. Same can be said for gymnastics. Men are allowed to wear tights. In fact, it is a part of their uniform. Women, however, are NOT allowed to wear it. Why? Because the judges can't tell if they are flexing their muscles correctly if they wear it. What's the difference?
