Beverly Mitzel remember that people s reasoning in time of trouble are different. He might have thought outsmarting the supposed criminal was better. He is an already fragile man and he was already with scammer. It is very unfortunate that what happened to the girl, but I see a terrified man trying to survive. I feel sorry for him because he didn’t initiate these circumstances neither he is savvy with modern ways of dealing with modern scammers.
—- I once called the police because I was harassed by phone calls. The police went - maybe 20+ years ago when they were starting with this type of crime. They told me just to hang up the call. But, I was able from back then that a sinister outcome could happened from this type of manipulation. We have a life lost because of them. Both, the girl and the man are victims here.

The scammer is most likely from another country. I received the same type of call… they knew judges at the courthouse, addresses of buildings, officer names… I refused to open zell. They threatened to send a sherif to arrest me. I Called the police on another line… they told us to hang up, said it’s a scam. I said I’m hanging up… the scammer started screaming at me. I screamed back - “send the F$&@@ police… go ahead!” 15 min later, officers were at my door- I was panicked thinking I was going to be arrested - I was yelling at the police “you told me to hang up!” (That’s how bad these scam callers are)
Police told me they weren’t there to arrest me and to calm down. My son told them what was happening because my stress level was so elevated from that call… I couldn’t explain clearly …
They recd a call that I was in danger. People called in that they heard screaming. I thought maybe my neighbor heard what I actually did yell.
My neighbor wasn’t home.
I told the police no neighbor heard me yelling - as I realized it was the scammer that called the police and made them check the call number. It matched the scammer number! The scammer sent the police to swat me when I refused money after 20 min of an elaborate story of how I missed a witness summons for a student and was under contempt and had to file a bond or be arrested.

The police said it wasn’t the first time. Did it make the news? No
The callers know everything, where you work, judge names, even the most grounded person can be made doubtful and afraid.
This is an elderly man - he should have called the police too - but- his call was different. Mine was about law enforcement and a summons… I could call and check.
I was still shaken and confused and scared when police were at my door.

More information must be shared with the public about what this is. And all debt call from real collectors must be stopped immediately. There is no reason why mail and email from reputable companies can’t collect their own - and let them go after their own debt in court if necessary…

The scammers are using a system that we created and allow… and I’m quite sure this man was not in his right mind - even though he SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE POLICE.

Never ever give money over the phone- ever. The police actually told me: NEVER ANSWER A CALL YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE. That is how bad it has gotten. The public needs to know.

Considering the circumstances of this the man needs released and the scammers found and prosicuted for the death. If someone did this to me and then someone shows up at my house for a package that I did not order to be picked up they better start running cause the death threats I will then take serious and that I would and could be harmed.. I want to see the whole dash video.. Maybe uber needs to maje sure uber drivers have systems like the cops,, In todays world of scammers, drug dealers and all that, you surely need to be proactive and not be taking chances.. In a way I look at this as a scam gone bad, bad for the scammers.

It was in that man or sumthing he wanted to do for long time she had no weapon and that's no different then police brutality with evidence on camera killing innocent ppl ...u can say self defense but it showed hate and he took advantage racism....genocide that's what they like Bullying....sad for that lady for tryna do her job ...this part of reason why American love Trump ..ish like this is sad ....she had no weapon and wonder why take pride in in Genocide ...sad ppl....it take natural disaster for racism not matter ...condolences to her family ...this could been simple door dash ..ups mailman ...even jehova witness ...

Problem is that he is a senior citizen and they don't know any better at all. Senior Citizens are automatically targeted for Scams, Harassments, and Death Threats when they reach 70 years of age.

He received a threatening phone call that one of his relatives were kidnapped and didn't go to the police station and ask for help. He didn't collect any information, didn't find out where the relative was held, didn't ask for a photo as proof of someone tied to a chair beaten up, didn't check the caller ID in the first place to see if it was "Blocked" before picking up, and so on.

The threatener said he was sending someone to pickup a briefcase loaded with cash. I've heard this call before on the news. You should never pick up a phone call from an unknown person. Robokiller blocks calls you didn't add to your Contacts.

Before it's TOO LATE, always talk to your Grandma/Grandpa about Extortion Scams and program their phone to Robokiller. It'll block who isn't on your contacts.

My son does deliveries and I’m terrified someone is going to shoot him. We live in MAGA country so there are guns aplenty. He was delivering one day and the houses had no numbers on them so he asked a group of kids if so and so lived in the house he thought was the one he should deliver to. A woman came out of the house screaming at him and charging at him. He said he was more scared of her than her pitbull. He was carrying bags of her order in one hand and had her cat litter slung onto his shoulder and yet she still didn’t get the connection of who he was. It was nuts. Said she was young but had false teeth and what with the neighborhood she lived in I suspected she was a meth head. Would explain her irrational behavior. Wouldn’t you be expecting someone to pull up in front of your house if you just ordered something? He’s thinking of blacklisting her so no one else has to go through what he did with her.

Brian Adams Not racist just an accurate description of a man who saw a black woman, unarmed, not trying to get money, walked out of his house of safety with a gun on her, talking to her and threatening her telling her he's going to shoot her in the other leg. What do you think would happened if she was a white women? He took ADVANTAGE OF HER BRING BLACK AND THE RACIST HATRED OF THIS WORLD AGAINST ANYONE WHO'S NOT WHITE. Watch the video and the up coming trial. I bet his defense will be, he felt threatened and he watch news programs that stroked his fears!

David J Sanchez To remind you, white people are also likely to kill other whites at similar rates due to proximity. Folks tend to inflict violence on those that are present in their surroundings. This man is 81 and grew up during times when there was an actual “colored section”. Inherent bias is a QUALITATIVE aspect of the data here. Quantifiable and qualitative data don’t have to be mutually exclusive in order to be true. There is a plethora of quantitative data outlining the negative perceptions that whites have toward blacks in a myriad of settings ranging from healthcare to law enforcement, and now (like this poor lady) delivery drivers. Had the man been black and the victim an older white woman, the presence of a scammer would not be used to reduce blame toward the assailant. Good day

Terry Koenig, yes we know this. All the old folks don't understand this tho. Trust me! You come to the old folks home with me and your mind will be blown away. My mom's identity been stolen twice because she thought she was talking to SSI. one time was a scam call, the other was a letter in the mail. The mail one was pretty convincing. They knew way to much information. My husband works at the retirement home both our moms are in. You won't believe how many blind and alzheimers people get scammed. They ask the kids to take their parents phones away.

10ºThis happened in my community. The story that was originally reported was VERY different and it made him look like the victim. Thankfully, she had a working camera in her vehicle. There's no denying what happened that day, because it's all on video.

He didn't have to exit his home. If he was afraid, he should have called the police. We have local officers. Instead, he chose to shoot this unarmed woman, who was also elderly. After he shot her, he told her he'd shoot her "in the other leg". I know how it looks to me, but I'm not a detective. I just live here.
