A central theme throughout this narrative is the observance of Passover or Pesach.

Yet, to truly grasp its significance, a broader context is required.

Initially, the territories ranging from Judea to Syria were under the dominion of Ancient Egypt. This spanned even the lands of Abraham and Babylon. In this era, the Ancient Israelites documented their own experiences as an oppressed people under the Ancient Egyptians. During their monumental exodus, they constructed a golden statue of a cow, a representation of Hathor, the Egyptian deity of fertility and rebirth. Today, Hathor's influence lingers in the Coptic calendar through the month named in her honor.

Fast forward 700 years and we find the Israelites and the Ancient Egyptians under Roman occupation, following a period of Greek control. The Greek Ptolemies, courtesy of Alexander the Great, were endorsed as the rightful rulers of Egypt. The country was so heavily Hellenized that Greek became its lingua franca, despite the Greeks themselves being mostly inept in the Egyptian language. Nonetheless, they held sway as puppet monarchs, in a manner reminiscent of Herod's rule over the Israelites. The Romans, ultimately succeeding them, making the Emporor of Rome also Pharaoh of Egypt.

Curiously, the only group preserving the usage of the ancient language was the Egyptian temple priesthood. The pantheons of Greek and Roman deities bear a striking similarity to their Ancient Egyptian counterparts. Such was the extent of this overlap that numerous Greek and Roman tombs, dedicated to Egyptian gods, are found throughout Egypt, dating from the 2nd Century BC to the 2nd Century AD. Deities such as Amun-Jupiter, often depicted as a ram or a lamb, and Aphrodite-Hathor, were venerated from Egypt to France, frequently with their names in tandem. The Roman practice of releasing a prisoner during a feast, as enacted by Pilate, was influenced by Passover.

This narrative prompted a shift from paganism to Christianity, which permeated Egypt at a pace unparalleled elsewhere in the Roman Empire.

Given that Egypt was the birthplace of the Roman State/Empire religion and one of its pivotal economic and industrial powerhouses, it was essential for the Romans to resist the spread of Christianity. The Pax Romana depended on it. This conflict ignited a 300-year war, primarily waged against Roman Egyptians, Greeks, and Judeans.

This rebellion was not an unprecedented challenge for the Romans, who had honed their skills in quelling countless uprisings, from Vercingetorix to Spartacus.

So it should have been extremely easy, when the most powerful military empire the world had ever seen at the time, decided to wage war against a stateless group of pacifists, who lacked a government, military, or even basic resources, after they themselves had killed their leader and God. The Romans thought such a campaign would be over in a couple of decades at the most. The Carthaginians barely lasted more than two generations.
