Voyager 1 is sending data back to Earth for the first time in 5 months

NASA's Voyager 1 probe took about eight years to reach Uranus from Earth, starting in 1977 and arriving in 1986. Voyager 1 is part of the Voyager 2 mission, which is designed to explore Uranus. Voyager 1 is focused on the outer regions of the heliosphere and interstellar space, while Voyager 2 has gathered information about Uranus'

It should take another 300 years for NASA's Voyagers 1 and 2 are exploring the mysterious region between stars called interstellar space. NASA launched the twin probes in 1977 for a five-year mission to trek across the solar system. Nearly 46 years later, the two spacecraft are still going and are the farthest man-made

The Voyager spacecraft left Earth in 1977 and reached Uranus in 1986. It took about 8 years to get there.

Voyager 2 successfully conducted a flyby of Uranus in 1986
