After Gaza was conquered from Egypt (in the war that started against Israel) there was an Israeli attempt to invest in Gaza including the establishment of a renewed port. A hospital was also established.
There was a time when my Jewish Israeli mother worked in Gaza and there were trade relations. But then extremism reared its head and as violence increased and terrorist attacks increased, Israel had to build more security mechanisms and walls.
Hamas has controlled the Strip since 2005.
The agenda of Hamas is the destruction of Israel, and this is what this organization works for and educates its children. There is no desire for mutual existence here. After all, they could have agreed to the establishment of 2 states in 1948 and refused.

In December the UN security council adopted the measure to allow more aid into Gaza. In January the ICJ ordered Israel to allow adequate humanitarian aid into Gaza.The first starvation death happened 2 months ago. And now "full blown famine" has taken hold in northern Gaza and is spreading south.
It is the responsibility of the occupying power to ensure the health and safety of the people they are occupying. But Biden would rather spend approximately $320M (and risk American troops) to build a pier while children starve than demand Netanyahu stop committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Biden licking Netanyahu's boots to get his share of that $100M in campaign bribes for nothing. He's losing more base supporters than he could ever make up in "undecided" even if he got all of $100M.

Article 42 of the fourth Hague convention defines occupation-
“Territory is considered occupied when it is actually placed under the authority of the hostile army. The occupation extends only to the territory where such authority has been established and can be exercised.”
They don't need boots on the ground to exert that control and authority. As for occupied West Bank. The PLO is a proxy for the IDF which is why Hamas won international last election held and where the PLO has no authority, the Israeli military does. It's occupied, nothing complicated about it.
But I was actually speaking to the situation since they invaded Gaza. Or do you not consider plating Israeli flags in the rubble of what used to be Palestinian homes and hospitals, cutting off electricity and water, blocking aid at ports of entry, slaughtering at will, and forcibly displacing almost the entirethe population "authority and control" of an occupation?

There has been a lot of misinformation and disinformation reported.
The UN isn't the only humanitarian agency dealing with aid, and it is not withholding aid. Israel controls when and where all of the trucks enter and travel to in Gaza. Israel deliberately targets aid trucks and convoys, so no driver can move around without Israeli permission.
The World Central Kitchen just started working in Gaza again after 7 of their employees were targeted and murdered. Either the same day or the day following their return, the driver of an aid truck was shot and killed by Israeli forces.
8ºThis reminds me of the fight for civil rights in America. So Israel says that they aren’t starving the Gazan to death and that they are only defending themselves from Hamas, because by creating genocide of Gazan they are preventing the genocide of Israelis.
America gave the right to be free to African Americans, the rights of citizenship to African Americans, and the right to vote to African Americans after the Civil War, and immediately took all of that away without repealing the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, and proudly instituted Jim Crow and Sundown Town laws in America.
They made African Americans fight for over 100 years for rights they already had in America. They are making Gazans fight for rights they should have had 75 years ago under a two state system.

Hamas isn't the Palestinian government, it's the PA. Palestinians don't happily keep them in power, there hasn't been an election since 2006.

What would happen if Hamas wasn't in power? Simple, just look at the West Bank. 230 Palestinians were killed in 2023 before Oct 7, and yet Hamas isn't in power there. So they'd still die even without Hamas.
